overall

Summary
With 1,320 currently listed for sale and an average price of $42,428.00, 32.5% of 2023 Toyota Siennas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Toyota Sienna 4.11 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota Sienna stands out in the minivan class because it uses a standard hybrid engine. That alone gives it a different identity from many family haulers, and it helps explain why the Sienna is often appealing to shoppers who want practicality without giving up fuel efficiency. It is also described as spacious, which fits the minivan mission well, and its standard advanced safety features add to its family-friendly appeal.
At the same time, the 2023 Toyota Sienna is not without compromises. The second-row seats aren’t removable, which limits some of the flexibility buyers may expect from a minivan. It is also described as having sluggish acceleration and an irritating transmission, so drivers looking for quick responses may find it less satisfying. Even so, for buyers who prioritize efficiency, roominess, and safety, the Sienna offers a compelling mix of strengths.

Awesome ride, comfort and great mpg. Good looking too. However, backup camera resolution can be improved. Spare tire should come as standard in a minivan.

2023 Sienna XLE 7 passenger AWD My Grandchildrens Favorite! It has lots of room..they can slide the seats back and have living room comfort. They like the rear USB charging ports, rear AC/heat controls, and they can always fit friends back there with them, and their gear. I like it because its comfortable, safe, and gets 35 miles per gallon. The All Wheel Drive is best..most of those available are Front wheel drive. In recent snowstorms, I saw many other vehicles slid off the road, but I never spun a wheel with the AWD. Fantastic resale value, if I ever want to sell it, such as if my needs change. The hybrid is quiet, smooth, and, actually has more horsepower than the older Sienna V6, because the battery assists with extra power when in sport mode. Now, for what I dont like: Irritating Apple car play, when you plug the maps in, you have to wait, and wait, for the directions to appear. Too slow. Apparently, there is no way to upgrade to Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which apparenly solves that problem. Its unclear why Toyota cant/wont allow the software upgrade to make the Apple Car play faster and not frustrating. The back part of the van is difficult to enter, especially for large adults with knee problems. Young adults, under 200 pounds wont have a problem. We carry a step stool so my wife can enter the rear of the van when desired. I do agree, the 3rd seat, when folded down, kind of bounces, unless you set something on it like groceries, suitcases, cargo mat, etc, but that has never caused us any problem. While I have read of unable to start problems because the battery ran down mostly due to defective foot activated door sensors in the 2022 model, I have not had the problem in the 2023 Sienna. For that reason, I recommend avoiding the 2022 Sienna, and go with 2023. I have no desire to go out to my van, and then not be able to start it because the battery is dead, and for that to happen multiple times. I have never had a dead battery in my 2023. It works great every time, except for the issues I mentioned, above. Lastly, my Sienna came with only one key, this is as convient as a broken leg, and they take forever to get me the promised new key...which has never arrived.

See more price trendsHow much does the 2023 Toyota Sienna cost?
| Metric | Value |

| Year-Round High | $43,135.02 |

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,311 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy. If you find a listing below $40,927.48, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2023 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Generally — the 2023 Toyota Sienna earns 4.11/5 from owners and 7.67/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its fuel efficiency, spaciousness, and comfort, and many highlight the hybrid setup’s excellent gas mileage. The trade-offs are familiar: some drivers mention weaker acceleration, engine noise under load, and a few tech frustrations. For families who want a practical minivan with strong everyday usability, the Sienna fits that use case well. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.11/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially those focused on long-term family use. Expert testing reinforces that impression by describing the technology as reliable, even if the interface feels dated. Toyota’s hybrid setup also supports lower running costs, which can make ownership easier to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is more about wear-and-tear and feature satisfaction than major ownership drama.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Sienna?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on interior condition, seat operation, and tech usability, since family use can leave visible wear. It also makes sense to confirm that the hybrid system, infotainment, and driver-assistance features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base LE is the entry point, while the XLE adds standard LED fog lights, power-sliding doors, and a power liftgate. The XLE is the value-focused step up, and the Platinum brings higher-end materials and a more upscale feel.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid setup with two front-mounted electric motors, plus a third rear motor on AWD trims. Output is 245 net system horsepower, and the setup prioritizes efficiency over strong acceleration.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is not named here, but the Sienna comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with steering assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Those features are standard across the model.
- Infotainment: The Sienna uses a 9-inch touchscreen, with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM, an optional navigation system, and seven USB ports. CarPlay and Android Auto require a wired connection, and over-the-air capability is not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates AWD models at 35 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 35 mpg combined. FWD models are rated at 36 mpg across the board.
Which 2023 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2023 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Platinum, 25th Anniversary Special Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The LE gets you into the Sienna lineup, but the XLE is the better starting point if you want standard LED fog lights, power-sliding doors, and a power liftgate.
- Sweet-spot trim: The XLE looks like the best value because it adds the family-friendly convenience features that matter most in daily use.
- Premium/top trim: The Platinum is the luxury pick, with higher-end cabin materials and the most upscale presentation in the lineup.
- Off-road trim: The 25th Anniversary Special Edition is a special appearance package rather than the best choice for typical daily driving.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up for core driver-assistance coverage.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Sienna?
The market looks selective rather than overheated, so you can shop with patience and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,311 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 87.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $40,927.48, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $42,428 sits slightly below last year's $42,707.
That small decline suggests the Sienna has held value fairly well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to a market that remains predictable. Strong fuel economy, family-friendly packaging, and broad buyer appeal should continue to support demand.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.11/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Toyota Sienna safe?
It earns five-star ratings in NHTSA crash tests, and the mechanically identical 2022 Sienna received a Top Safety Pick+ designation from IIHS.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Sienna comes standard with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with steering assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. That standard safety coverage is a major strength, especially for family duty. The main caveat is that the 2023 model itself had not yet been rated by IIHS at the time of testing.
Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.11/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It combines strong efficiency with standard safety features and family-friendly practicality.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $37,391, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $42,428 average.
- It offers the same hybrid formula with a lower entry price.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $45,238, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $42,428 average.
- It keeps the same efficiency-focused formula with updated family-hauler appeal.
The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want a balanced mix of value, efficiency, and standard safety without paying newer-model pricing. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better bargain; if you want the newest version and do not mind paying more, the 2024 is the premium path.
