Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota 4Runner has established itself as a classic midsize SUV, appealing particularly to buyers who prioritize off-road capabilities and rugged reliability. While it may be considered dated in some aspects, such as its interior technology and fuel efficiency—achieving only 17 mpg combined—the 4Runner’s sturdy build and proven toughness make it a reliable choice for adventures on and off the road. This year's model offers exciting features like the limited-edition 40th Anniversary Special Edition, which adds unique styling and options that cater to enthusiasts. Additionally, the SUV's spacious interior, generous cargo capacity, and strong towing capabilities (5,000 pounds) further enhance its versatility as a family vehicle or outdoor travel companion. However, prospective buyers should weigh the 4Runner’s solid performance against its less impressive safety ratings and handling on paved roads.
