Is the 2023 Rivian R1S reliable?

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is described as efficient and capable in everyday use. That kind of positive ownership experience often suggests you can count on the vehicle for regular driving without major disappointment. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific example you choose has been well cared for and matches the condition you expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Rivian R1S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first so you can confirm the vehicle’s background before you get too far into the buying process. After that, focus your inspection on overall condition, especially anything that could affect daily usability or family hauling. Pay close attention to the interior layout and third-row access if you plan to use all seating positions regularly.

What is the 2023 Rivian R1S's resale value?

That softer pricing suggests buyers have more leverage today, but it can also mean future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price. Even so, a model with strong owner satisfaction can still attract steady interest when it is clean, well maintained, and priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Rivian R1S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 44.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, inventory depth, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the one to focus on first. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and use the softer market to push for a lower out-the-door number.
