That softer pricing can work in your favor if you’re buying now, but it also means future resale value may depend more heavily on how well you maintain the vehicle and how carefully you buy. Should I buy a 2024 Rivian R1S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 41.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.74% compared with last year.

The bottom line:
The 2024 is the stronger choice if you want a year with favorable pricing, good deal availability, and a healthy share of clean listings. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the benefits of shopping this one.
