How much does the 2023 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 2.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,268 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable number of trucks to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.94/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable interior, and modern features, and many say it delivers strong value versus rivals. The overview also points to a truck that feels established rather than experimental, which should appeal if you want something familiar and broadly proven. On the downside, the transmission is sluggish and fuel economy is poor, so it fits you best if capability and value matter more than refinement at the pump. Good and great deals account for 36.0% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with drivers highlighting its strong performance, comfortable cabin, and overall satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Nissan kept the truck largely familiar while adding only minor tweaks, which supports the sense that this is a straightforward, established design. Nissan also notes that the generation is expected to be around for quite some time, which can be reassuring if you want a truck you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the transmission and fuel economy may remain the biggest compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the transmission behavior, cabin condition, and any signs of hard use, especially if the truck was used for towing or off-road driving. Focus on whether the equipment matches the trim you want, since some desirable features are reserved for higher trims or optional packages.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2023 Nissan Frontier is offered in four trim levels: S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X. The SV can be had with a Midnight Edition package that blacks out the grille, wheels, mirrors, badging, interior accents, and headliner, while the Pro trims add Lava Red interior accents and more upscale seating features. If you want the best value, the Pro-X stands out for adding much of the Pro-4X look and equipment without 4WD.
• Powertrain: A 3.8-liter V6 with 310 hp and 281 pound-feet of torque is standard, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available; Pro-X models are RWD only.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert are standard across the lineup. Lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are available but not standard on any trim. Traffic-sign recognition and intelligent cruise control are standard on Pro-4X, and lower trims can add them as optional upgrades.
• Infotainment: S and SV trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Pro-X and Pro-4X get a 9-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on Pro-X and Pro-4X, while S and SV require a wired connection; Android Auto also requires a wired connection. The Pro trims also get two USB-A and two USB-C ports each, and a wireless charging pad is available on those two top trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates the Frontier at up to 20 mpg combined, with 18 city and 24 highway for the rear-drive setup. Four-wheel drive lowers that to 17 city, 22 highway, and 19 combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Frontier lineup and are comfortable with the most basic equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday appeal and can be dressed up with the Midnight Edition package.
• Pro-X: This is the sweet spot if you want the more upscale Pro-trim look, the larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and stronger audio and charging options without moving all the way to 4WD.
• Pro-4X: Choose this if you want the most off-road-oriented version and the most complete feature set, including standard traffic-sign recognition and intelligent cruise control.

Safety features are not fully standard on lower trims, so check carefully for the driver-assistance equipment you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,268 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,831, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $31,847 sits slightly below last year's $32,801.

That decline suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper short-term resale expectations if you plan to sell soon. The year-round range also shows that prices have been moving within a fairly tight band, so condition and equipment will matter a lot when it comes time to resell. Trucks with stronger feature content and cleaner histories should be easier to move later, especially if they present well and have been maintained carefully.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert are standard across the lineup. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is available on every trim, but it is not standard equipment, and buyers who add it can turn each element on or off. Traffic-sign recognition and intelligent cruise control are standard on Pro-4X, while lower trims can add them as optional upgrades. The main caveat is that the Frontier’s standard safety equipment is less comprehensive than some rivals unless you add the available suite.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model adds minor tweaks and more standard features while keeping the familiar second-generation formula.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $26,640, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,847 average.
• It offers a fresh redesign with updated styling, a comfortable cabin, and real off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current version of this generation, the 2023 is the safer pick. If your priority is saving money and you still want the core redesign benefits, the 2022 is the value play.
