Used 2022 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearAurora, IL

How much does the 2022 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 6.72% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,323 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Frontiers to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.66/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its design, comfort, and power, and they also highlight the roomy cabin and upgraded interior. The truck’s strong engine is another recurring positive, especially for buyers who want a midsize pickup that feels capable and modern.

The trade-offs are clear: steering feels heavy, fuel economy is poor, and rear seat space draws mixed reactions. That lines up with the Frontier’s use case as a comfortable, tech-forward midsize truck that still leans into capability rather than efficiency or maximum passenger room.

With 35.6% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.66/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels solid, dependable, and trouble-free for many owners, with several comments emphasizing its strong design, comfort, and power over time. The expert evaluation also describes it as a strong value with a comfortable cabin and an enhanced powertrain, which supports the sense that it is built to be a practical long-term pickup.

The Frontier also benefits from a powertrain that is tuned for the heavier truck and delivers strong performance without feeling strained. Nissan’s cost-effectiveness notes also reinforce the idea that it offers a lot of truck for the money.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that reliability feedback is mixed enough that you should be especially careful about maintenance history and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the drivetrain, steering feel, brakes, and any signs of hard use, especially if the truck was used for towing or off-road driving. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lowest trim uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while the PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen and off-road-ready equipment. The PRO-X keeps the styling cues but gives up the locking differential and skid plates, so it suits you best if you want the look without the full trail hardware.
• Powertrain: The truck uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are both available, and the truck includes tow mode plus 4-Hi and 4-Lo on 4WD models.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: A standard 8-inch touchscreen comes on S and SV trims, while PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard but wired only, and wireless projection is not supported.
• Fuel efficiency: Rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 18 mpg city, 24 highway, and 20 combined, while four-wheel-drive models are rated at 17/22/19. The combined fuel economy rating is 19 mpg.

Which 2022 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-X, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Frontier’s core V6 power and standard tech at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the truck’s fundamentals and don’t need the extra convenience or off-road equipment.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without pushing you into the pricier specialty models. If you want a balanced mix of equipment and price, start here.
• PRO-X: Choose this if you like the PRO-4X look but don’t need four-wheel-drive trail hardware. It keeps the styling cues while dropping the locking differential and skid plates.
• PRO-4X: This is the one to buy if you want the most capability. It adds the off-road gear, the 9-inch screen, and the strongest trail-focused setup in the lineup.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 comes standard, and the Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,323 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,640, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $26,640 sits slightly below last year's $28,559.

That price movement suggests the Frontier has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. A lower current average can help you buy more truck for the money now, yet it may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon.

The good news is that the Frontier’s strong value proposition and broad appeal should help support demand. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.66/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier hasn’t been crash-tested yet by either major agency, so there isn’t a published crash-test result to cite here.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 comes standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.66/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned cabin, stronger tech, and a more modern feel than the outgoing generation.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,847, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $26,640 average.
• It adds a few minor tweaks and more standard features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the redesign and strong equipment at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly updated version with a few extra standard features, the 2023 is the better secondary path.
