How much does the 2023 Nissan Frontier cost?

There are 3,303 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

The overview also points to a truck that feels established rather than experimental, with useful updates and a broad appeal for shoppers who want capability without giving up everyday comfort.

The trade-offs are clear: the transmission can feel sluggish, and fuel economy is poor. Even so, the Frontier’s mix of value, comfort, and capability makes it a sensible fit if you want a midsize pickup that feels familiar and well-rounded.

Good and great deals account for 32.9% of listings, which is a healthy sign that you can still find competitive pricing.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with owners highlighting its comfortable cabin, strong performance, and overall satisfaction over time. The expert review also emphasizes that Nissan kept the truck largely familiar while adding minor tweaks and more standard features, which supports the sense that this is a straightforward, established pickup rather than a risky redesign.

The expert review also notes that Nissan expects this generation to remain around for quite some time, which can be reassuring if you want a truck built for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about complexity and more about making sure the specific truck you choose has been maintained well and driven in good condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize an inspection that checks the transmission behavior, tire wear, and overall cabin and exterior condition, since those are the kinds of details that can separate a good used buy from a merely average one. It also helps to compare trim equipment carefully so you know whether the truck has the features you want or if you’d need to step up to a higher grade.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2023 Nissan Frontier is offered in four trim levels: S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X. The lineup adds a Midnight Edition on the SV trim, while the Pro trims get Lava Red interior accents; the Pro grades also add heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, and the Pro-X is not offered in 4WD.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.8-liter V6 makes 310 hp and 281 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, 4WD is available, and the Pro-X is not offered in 4WD.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is available on every trim, while forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert are standard across the lineup. Lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are available but not standard on any trim.
• Infotainment: S and SV trims use an 8-inch touchscreen, while Pro-X and Pro-4X get a 9-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard on the Pro trims, Android Auto requires a wired connection, and the Pro trims also get a wireless charging pad and available 10-speaker Fender audio.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates the Frontier at up to 20 mpg combined, with 18 city and 24 highway. Four-wheel drive lowers those figures to 17 city, 22 highway, and 19 combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Frontier formula with the standard V6, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the basic safety and convenience equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and don’t need the extra tech or comfort upgrades.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more polish without jumping all the way to the Pro models. The Midnight Edition is offered here, and it’s the trim to consider if you want a more distinctive look and a balanced feature set.
• Pro-X: This trim is the better choice if you want the more upscale tech and audio setup, including the 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and the available premium sound system. It also gets the Pro-grade comfort and interior upgrades, though it is not offered in 4WD.
• Pro-4X: This is the one to buy if you want the most capability and the most complete feature set in the lineup. It adds the off-road-oriented hardware and standard safety content mentioned in the review, along with the strongest mix of equipment for buyers who plan to use the truck more seriously.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is available on every trim, but it is not standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,303 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,829, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $31,733 sits slightly below last year's $32,723.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can be good news if you’re buying now but a mild headwind if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer price trend usually means future resale gains may be more gradual unless demand tightens again. Still, the Frontier’s strong value reputation and broad appeal should help it remain reasonably marketable.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2023 Nissan Frontier earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning, trailer sway control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and rear-door alert are standard across the lineup. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is available on every trim, but it is not standard, and lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are available rather than standard. Traffic-sign recognition and intelligent cruise control are standard on Pro-4X, so lower trims miss out on those features unless you add them.

The main caveat is that the Frontier’s NHTSA result includes a four-star frontal crash rating and a three-star rollover rating, which keeps it from a stronger overall result.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model adds minor tweaks and more standard features while keeping the truck familiar.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $26,380, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,733 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with comfort, technology, and capability.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current used Frontier, the 2023 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2023’s added standard features, the 2022 is the value play.
