It also has head-turning styling, inside and out. ## What’s New for the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander For 2023, Mitsubishi introduces Ralliart and 40th Anniversary editions. Otherwise, the Outlander is largely a carryover from the 2022 model. ## Design Trims for the 2023 Outlander are ES, SE, and SEL. These trims are also available in sub-trims and with special edition packages. The ES comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and fog lights. The SE Special Edition features 20-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. The (non-Special Edition) SE trim loses the roof rails. The BE (Black Edition) trim features black 20-inch alloy wheels, a black hood badge, and black side mirrors with LED turn signals. The roof rails return with the SEL trim. The Ralliart features unique, performance-inspired styling touches. The 40th Anniversary Edition features a unique, contrasting roof design. ## Powertrain The 2023 Outlander comes equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. It generates 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels or to available all-wheel drive (AWD), which Mitsubishi calls Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC). Fuel economy for the front-wheel drive (FWD) Outlander is 24 mpg city, 31 highway, and 27 combined. The AWD version returns 24 mpg city, 30 highway, and 26 combined. ## Interior With the second and third rows folded, the Outlander provides a total of 79.7 cubic feet of cargo space. With the second row in use, that falls to 33.5 cubic feet of cargo space, and with all seats folded up, you get just 11.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats. All trims except for the base ES come with a power lift gate. Standard features on the Outlander ES include dual-zone automatic climate control, manually adjustable front seats, and cloth upholstery. Moving up to the SE trim adds a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. It also adds wireless device charging and rear-seat USB ports. ## Safety Standard driver-safety tech on the Outlander includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
