The Mitsubishi Outlander 3-row compact crossover competes with the Nissan Rogue, Hyundai Palisade, and Volkswagen Tiguan. The GT trim comes with a 3.0-liter V6 engine packing a beefier 224 hp and 215 lb-ft, along with a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD. As far as fuel economy goes, the Outlander gets 25 mpg city, 30 highway, 27 combined for the 4-cylinder with FWD and 24, 29, 26 with AWD. The V6 manages 20, 27, 22, albeit on premium fuel. Forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams are newly standard on SE and above grades. Adaptive cruise control and a multi-view reversing camera come on higher trims. With all optional equipment, the Outlander achieved a 2019 Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
