What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Lexus ES?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report. You should prioritize a clean history report first, then inspect the car for signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or neglected maintenance. The current average of $38,367 sits slightly above last year's $37,859. That suggests the market has held up reasonably well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A modest year-over-year increase also points to steady demand rather than a sharp drop in value. If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain it well, you should be in a better position to protect your return when it is time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.34% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,317, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,367 average.
• It offers multiple powertrain choices for shoppers who want more flexibility.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2023 if you want the stronger current-market balance of satisfaction, inventory, and deal availability. If your top priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value play, especially if you are comfortable giving up some of the 2023's current-market momentum.
