What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Lexus ES?

You should still review the history report carefully and confirm there are no prior collisions, title issues, or repeated claims. Focus on whether the car still feels quiet, clean, and well cared for, since that is a big part of what you are paying for.

What is the 2023 Lexus ES's resale value?

The current average of $38,663 sits slightly above last year's $37,961.

That modest increase suggests the market still values this model year’s comfort-first formula. If you buy well and keep the car in clean condition, you should have a reasonable chance of holding onto value better than a vehicle with weaker demand. The combination of steady pricing and broad appeal can help support a more predictable resale path when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Lexus ES or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.85% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,736, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,663 average.
• It offers a broader powertrain lineup for shoppers who want more choice.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of inventory, condition, and buyer demand, the 2023 is the cleaner pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better value-oriented alternative and still delivers the ES’s core comfort-first appeal.
