How much does the 2023 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 6.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,528 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Jeep Wrangler earns a 5/5 from owners and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability and fun driving experience, and the review summary also points to strong enthusiasm overall. The Wrangler’s purpose-first design and multiple powertrain choices fit buyers who want trail ability and character more than everyday polish.

The trade-offs are clear: expert notes call out limited storage space and unimpressive on-road performance, and owner feedback mentions high-speed handling and pricing concerns. If you want a rugged SUV for adventure-minded use, the Wrangler fits that brief well; if you want a quiet, comfort-first commuter, it is less convincing.

Good and great deals account for 38.7% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a vehicle that many drivers enjoy and feel good about keeping, with the Wrangler’s off-road capability and fun factor helping reinforce that positive ownership experience. The expert review also emphasizes the Wrangler’s durable, purpose-built character and its solid-axle, body-on-frame setup, which supports its reputation for being built around hard use.

The cost-effectiveness notes also mention that the Wrangler’s fuel economy varies by powertrain, so long-term ownership costs can swing a lot depending on which version you choose. For used buyers, the biggest risk is picking a trim or engine that does not match your driving needs, since the wrong configuration can be expensive to live with.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Wrangler you are considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because the model’s capability-focused hardware and wide range of configurations can hide wear that is not obvious in photos. Pay close attention to how the vehicle has been used, especially if you are shopping for a more trail-oriented example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Some popular trims like the Sport, High Altitude, Willys Sport, and Sahara do not get locking differentials or meaty tires, so base and comfort-oriented versions can miss key off-road hardware.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 285-horsepower V6, a 270-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, a 260-horsepower diesel V6, a 470-horsepower V8, or a plug-in hybrid setup with two electric motors and 21 miles of all-electric range.
• Safety package: The standard safety equipment is limited to a rearview camera, electronic roll mitigation, and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are standard only on the top 392 model, and lane-keeping assist is not offered.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen is standard, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and over-the-air updates apply only to the Uconnect system.
• Fuel efficiency: Expect anywhere from 19 mpg combined to 23 mpg combined in general use, with the diesel returning 25 mpg combined and the plug-in hybrid rated at 49 mpge combined.

Which 2023 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 1 trim level: Rubicon 392.

Here's the short version:

The Rubicon 392 is the standout choice if you want the most extreme factory Wrangler experience, with the V8 powertrain and the kind of hardware that suits serious off-road use. It is the most expensive path, but it is also the version that best matches the Wrangler’s capability-first mission.

Safety-package note: the standard safety equipment is limited, and several driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims or option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,528 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,355, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $34,737 sits slightly below last year's $37,063.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays soft. The Wrangler’s strong enthusiast appeal and broad recognition should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

If you choose a configuration that aligns with what shoppers want most, you may have an easier time holding value. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler earns a four-star frontal crash rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS shows an almost even split between Good and Marginal ratings, with some headlights on certain trims rated Poor.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment is limited to a rearview camera, electronic roll mitigation, and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are standard only on the top 392 model, while lane-keeping assist is not offered at all.

That means you should not assume a used Wrangler is well equipped just because it is a newer model year. If safety matters to you, verify exactly which driver-assistance features are installed on the specific vehicle you are considering.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Wrangler’s rugged, off-road-first character with multiple powertrain choices and strong enthusiast appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,781, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $34,737 average.
• It offers retro styling, removable doors, and open-air versatility.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $36,634, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $34,737 average.
• It adds a more modern feel with updated technology, safety, and refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing and strong owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want newer tech and refinement, the 2024 is worth the extra money.
