How much does the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

With 5,341 listings available, you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 4.88/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.17/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, advanced features, and value, and many also like the luxury-SUV feel created by the technology and safety equipment. The Santa Fe also gets positive feedback for smooth driving manners, especially in AWD models.

The trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the lack of an N-Line performance variant. That makes it a better fit if you want a well-equipped family crossover than if you want a sporty personality.

Given its value-focused mission, it makes the most sense if you want a two-row midsize SUV that prioritizes equipment and everyday usability over flash. The market backs that up, with 39.0% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviews also point to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comfort and value reinforcing the sense that this is a vehicle people can count on.

The Santa Fe’s powertrain is described as smooth and clean in operation, and the overall driving experience comes across as composed and easy to live with. Hyundai also includes three years of complimentary maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

A few owners do mention engine reliability concerns, so a careful pre-purchase inspection still matters. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and has a clean history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not guarantee the individual vehicle is problem-free. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim level being advertised.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is the most basic version, with an 8-inch touchscreen and cloth seats, while the SEL adds heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, and a larger navigation screen. The XRT brings dark exterior details and H-Tex seating surfaces, while the Limited and Calligraphy add more luxury features, including larger displays, leather, cooled seats, and more premium audio. The base trim is the one most likely to feel sparse if you want more comfort and tech.
• Powertrain: The SE, SEL, and XRT use a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while the Limited and Calligraphy upgrade to a turbocharged version with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet. FWD is standard and AWD is optional across the lineup.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, driver monitoring, a safe-exit system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Highway Driving Assist comes standard on SEL and above.
• Infotainment: The SE uses an 8-inch display audio system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other trims get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and traffic information, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, wireless device charging, digital key, and connected services. The Limited and Calligraphy also add a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-turbo FWD model returns 26 mpg combined, while the non-turbo AWD version gets 24 mpg combined. The turbo FWD version returns 25 mpg combined, and the turbo AWD version gets 24 mpg combined. During testing, the AWD turbo model averaged 22.9 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value entry point, and it gives you the essentials: LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, cloth seats, an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a broad set of standard driver-assistance features. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the extra comfort and tech upgrades.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch navigation screen, wireless device charging, a proximity key, and push-button start. It is the sweet spot if you want a more complete daily driver without jumping to luxury pricing.
• XRT: This trim is for you if you want a tougher-looking Santa Fe, with dark exterior accents, black roof rails, unique side moldings and steps, dark alloy wheels, and H-Tex seating surfaces. It is more about style and appearance than major capability gains.
• Limited: This is the trim to choose if you want the strongest mix of performance and comfort, because it adds the turbocharged engine, leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and Harman Kardon audio. It is the best all-around upgrade if you want more power and a more premium cabin.
• Calligraphy: This is the top luxury-oriented trim, with quilted Nappa leather, ambient lighting, a head-up display, premium exterior details, and a hands-free smart liftgate. Choose it if you want the most upscale Santa Fe experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but Highway Driving Assist starts on SEL and above, so that trim is the first one that adds a meaningful safety-tech step up.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,341 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,335, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $24,157 sits slightly above last year's $24,080.

That small increase suggests the Santa Fe has held its value fairly well in the near term. For a future seller, that kind of stability is helpful because it points to steady buyer interest rather than a sharp drop in demand.

The current pricing range also shows that the market is not overheating, which can be good news if you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in strong condition. A well-maintained Santa Fe should remain easier to resell than a model with weak demand or volatile pricing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe received the highest-possible five-star overall rating from NHTSA, and the IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, driver monitoring, a safe-exit system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Highway Driving Assist comes standard on SEL and above, so lower trims miss that added convenience feature.

The safety story is especially strong here because the Santa Fe combines broad standard driver assistance with top crash-test results. If safety is a priority, this is one of the model’s clearest strengths.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the value-focused, well-equipped formula before the full redesign arrives.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,137, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $24,157 average.
• It adds a plug-in hybrid option and an XRT trim.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,476, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $24,157 average.
• It brings a full redesign with standard third-row seating.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, equipment, and proven value, the 2023 is the safer pick. If you are shopping on a tighter budget, the 2022 can save you money, while the 2024 makes sense only if you want the redesign and are willing to pay more for it.
