Why it stands out
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E stands out as a stylish electric crossover that blends performance, technology, and utility in one package. It is described as fun to drive, comfortable, and impressive on the tech front, which helps explain why it feels like more than just a practical EV. Owners also praise its performance, design, all-wheel-drive capability, and quiet, smooth ride.
Ford gave the 2023 Mustang Mach-E a few notable updates that strengthen its appeal. The Premium trim level offers up to 290 miles of range, while the California Route 1 comes only with all-wheel drive and 312 miles of range this year. The GT gets a standard panoramic glass roof, and new Carbonized Gray and Vapor Blue paint colors debut. Ford also introduced an enhanced version of its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology.
Even with those strengths, the Mach-E is not without drawbacks. Its electric range is described as unimpressive, the ride quality can be choppy, and it needs a head-up display. Some owners also feel the price is on the high side and would like quicker access to features like the camera button.

Great value for the car! I absolutely love it! It has all the features I was looking for.

Finally pulled the trigger and purchased my Mach-E GT. No regrets, I love all the features, love the performance, and look of my GT. Comparing to the Tesla Y, the charging I thought would be a challenge but the EV charging market has significantly improved and is more reliable and available. The range could be better, but like most EVs, performance or range? But getting over 250 miles a charge is not bad at all considering how the car performs. Love it, go get one!!

It’s really too expensive, but pricing will improve with supply and competition. Smooth, quiet, comfortable, powerful and extremely well equipped. Door and panel gaps are consistent and tight. Build quality seems top notch. I would like a little quicker access to the camera button, but it’s not a big issue. There may be a quicker way already built in, but I haven’t found it. So far a great car.

How much does the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,832 |
| Year-Round Low | $29,016 |
| Year-Round High | $32,865 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $30,389 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.83% |
Prices have softened 1.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,081 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of choices.
Is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E a good car?
Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 8.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its impressive performance, stylish design, and advanced technology, along with its all-wheel-drive capability and quiet, smooth ride. In use, that lines up with the Mach-E’s role as a stylish electric crossover that blends performance, technology, and utility.
The trade-offs are that its electric range is unimpressive, the ride quality can be choppy, and it needs a head-up display. Even so, if you want an EV that feels more engaging and upscale than purely practical, this year’s Mach-E fits that brief well.
With 38.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s meaningful market flexibility if you shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels impressive, stylish, and advanced, while still being quiet and smooth in daily use. That combination usually matters most when you’re trying to judge whether an EV will feel dependable over time.
Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system is described as impressive, and the vehicle’s software-based features add to the sense that it’s built for modern, long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about basic durability and more about making sure the car’s tech, charging behavior, and battery condition are all in good shape.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with lots of fast-charging use. Focus on overall condition, software behavior, charging performance, and whether the car’s features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup includes Select, Premium, California Route 1, and GT. The GT stands out with a more distinctive look, unique 20-inch wheels, and a dark front panel, while the Premium trim is the one tied to the higher-range update mentioned in the review. The base Select is the most likely place where you’ll feel feature gaps versus the better-equipped trims.
- Powertrain: You can find single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive setups, with output ranging from 266 to 480 horsepower and 317 to 634 pound-feet of torque. The GT uses an extended-range battery and AWD, and the review notes that the dual-motor setup delivers strong acceleration.
- Safety package: Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is standard, along with BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. Ford also says the surround-view camera and BlueCruise are options on Select trim and standard on other variants, so verify equipment carefully on the exact car you’re shopping.
- Infotainment: The Mach-E uses a 15.5-inch vertical touchscreen with Sync 4A, over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument display.
- Range & charging: The lineup spans 224 to 312 miles of driving range, and the review notes that the Premium trim can reach up to 290 miles while the California Route 1 reaches 312 miles. The GT’s official EPA range is 270 miles, and the GT Performance Edition drops to 260 miles.
- Battery health: On a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, confirm how the car has typically been charged, and review whether the battery warranty still has meaningful coverage left. A car that has mostly seen home charging and shows consistent range behavior is usually the safer bet than one with heavy DC fast-charging use.
Which 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E trim should I buy?
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is offered in 4 trim levels: Select, Premium, California Route 1, GT.
Here's the short version:
- Select: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Mach-E experience at the lowest starting point. Just verify the exact safety and camera equipment on the example you’re considering, since availability can vary by trim and source.
- Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the more desirable range update mentioned in the review and sits in the sweet spot between price and equipment.
- California Route 1: Choose this if range matters most, since the review calls out its 312-mile figure and standard all-wheel drive for this year.
- GT: Pick this if you want the most performance-focused version, with the most aggressive styling and the strongest output in the lineup.
Ford says the surround-view camera and BlueCruise are options with Select trim and standard on other Mach-E variants, so confirm the exact safety package before you buy.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,081 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.83% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 90.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $29,016, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E's resale value?
The current average of $29,832 sits slightly below last year's $30,389.
That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, trim, and how well the car’s battery and tech systems hold up.
Because the model still draws strong owner satisfaction and has broad appeal as a stylish EV crossover, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Trim desirability and feature content should matter a lot when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E safe?
The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E earns top marks in most IIHS assessments, and it was a Top Safety Pick for the 2022 calendar year. As this review is written, that accolade is not valid for the 2023 calendar year, so you should check for updates.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is standard across the lineup, along with BlueCruise hands-free highway driving. The review also notes that the surround-view camera and BlueCruise may vary by trim, so you should verify the exact equipment on the car you’re considering.
A key caveat is that the Mach-E needs a head-up display, especially because some BlueCruise alerts rely on the digital instrument display rather than more immediate visual cues.
Should I buy a 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.83% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the review: Ford introduced an enhanced version of BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $31,939, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $29,832 average.
- Ford adds a new Rally trim and broader upgrades.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2023 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer model’s updates and trim expansion, the 2024 is the secondary path.
