How much does the 2023 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 2,500 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — 4.8/5 owners’ rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.2/10. The standout strength is Performance at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, fun driving experience, and modern tech features. They also highlight the ample legroom and trunk space, which helps the car work better as a daily driver than its muscle-car image might suggest.

That said, the Challenger’s appeal is balanced by its old-school character, so you should expect a car that leans more toward straight-line excitement than modern polish. It fits you best if you want a comfortable, high-power coupe with a strong personality and can live with the tradeoffs that come with that formula.

With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still a decent share of attractive pricing in the market.

Is the 2023 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners’ feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to shoppers who want a satisfying long-term ownership experience, especially when it comes to the driving experience and overall value. The expert assessment also emphasizes that the Challenger has held up remarkably well considering its age.

The Challenger’s straightforward, old-school character can be a plus for used buyers who want a familiar formula rather than a complicated one. Even so, you should still plan for higher running costs and make sure the specific car you’re considering has been cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Dodge Challenger?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report and then prioritize a thorough inspection of the car’s condition, especially if it has been driven hard or modified. Pay close attention to signs of wear that would be consistent with a performance-oriented life, and make sure the equipment on the car matches what you expect from the trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Black Ghost is based on the SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody and adds Pitch Black paint, white rear fender graphics, a “gator skin” roof graphic, chrome exterior details, Mopar-sourced hood pins, Satin Carbon 20-inch wheels, premium Laguna semi-aniline leather upholstery, simulated suede trim, and genuine carbon fiber accents. It is the most distinctive choice if you want the most retro-flavored special edition.
• Powertrain: The Black Ghost uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 807 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. The car’s performance focus is extreme, and the expert notes that it delivers relentless power with strong acceleration.
• Safety package: The Black Ghost includes a low-resolution reversing camera, rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control are unavailable on this version.
• Infotainment: The Black Ghost has an 8.4-inch Uconnect 4 touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming audio, a navigation system, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system. The interface is described as intuitive, though the voice-recognition system shows its age.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive returned 15 mpg in combined driving, and the car averaged 15.7 mpg on the testing loop.

Which 2023 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2023 Dodge Challenger is offered in 1 trim level: Black Ghost.

Here's the short version:

The Black Ghost is the clear pick if you want the most exclusive, most visually distinctive version of the Challenger and you value the special-edition details as much as the performance. It layers in the strongest retro styling cues, premium interior materials, and the most complete feature set described in the data, but it also carries the same tradeoffs as the rest of the lineup: high fuel use, dated tech, and limited safety equipment.

Safety-package note: the Black Ghost includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and a reversing camera, but forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control are not available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Dodge Challenger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,500 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 82.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $41,194, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $42,626 sits slightly above last year's $41,581.

That upward move suggests the market is still willing to pay for this model year, especially as the Challenger’s final-year status adds appeal for some shoppers. If you’re thinking about resale later, the combination of strong demand and limited supply should help support values better than you might expect for a large, fuel-thirsty coupe.

The price range also matters: cars that land near the lower end can move quickly, while cleaner, better-equipped examples can hold firmer pricing. Strong owner satisfaction helps too, because shoppers tend to keep coming back to models that deliver the experience they want.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2023 Dodge Challenger earns favorable IIHS ratings only in two outdated frontal- and side-impact tests.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

The Challenger’s safety equipment is limited, with traction and stability control, a low-resolution reversing camera, rear parking sensors, automatic high-beam headlights, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert among the available features. Forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control are unavailable on the Black Ghost, so you do not get the kind of modern driver-assistance coverage many used-car shoppers now expect.

That means you should treat safety as a real tradeoff here. If you want the Challenger’s performance and style, you need to be comfortable with a thinner safety net than you’d find in many newer rivals.

Should I buy a 2023 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.51% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model year stands out as the Challenger’s final-year sendoff, with special-edition “Last Call” models and the most extreme performance in the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the last and most emotionally appealing version of the Challenger, the 2023 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may still find better value by shopping carefully and focusing on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than chasing the rarest special edition.
