How much does the 2023 BMW X7 cost?

Prices have softened 17.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,556 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW X7 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X7 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

The 2023 X7 is a large luxury SUV that pairs strong performance with a calm, refined driving experience, and it also gets a significant refresh with new front-end styling and the latest iDrive infotainment system. That makes it appealing if you want a premium three-row SUV that feels relaxed and substantial on the road, but the update also brings a more controversial look and a technology interface that can be frustrating to use.

The main trade-offs are potentially polarizing design and unintuitive technology.

With 38.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 BMW X7 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 X7 is described as sturdy and well put together, with a quiet cabin and a composed, confidence-inspiring road feel. Its performance is also a strength, with the base six-cylinder described as more than adequate for most drivers and the V8 delivering potent acceleration. The safety systems also behaved as expected during testing, without annoying false alarms or unpredictable responses.

The long-term ownership risk for used buyers is mostly tied to complexity: the refreshed technology and premium equipment can make upkeep and day-to-day use more demanding than in simpler SUVs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X7?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with a lot of technology and driver-assistance equipment. Focus on how the infotainment system, controls, and safety features operate in real-world use, since the refresh brought meaningful changes that may affect your day-to-day experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Design Pure Excellence model features chrome exterior trim, while the M Sport replaces the bright chrome with a darker finish. The interior also changes with the refresh, and you should pay attention to whether the cabin materials and trim choices suit you, since glossy wood and carbon fiber can create harsh reflections.
• Powertrain: The lineup starts with a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, and the M60i upgrades to a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with a similar hybrid setup. The base engine is described as more than adequate for most drivers, while the V8 is potent and much quicker.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane departure warning, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams. The M60i adds a surround-view camera system, and available features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward cross-traffic alerts, a semi-automated parking function, and highway driving assist.
• Infotainment: The 2023 X7 uses the latest iDrive system with a curved display setup, but many physical buttons have been removed. Basic functions are straightforward, but deeper menu navigation can be cumbersome, and voice commands are used as a workaround for some tasks.
• Fuel efficiency: The six-cylinder xDrive40i is estimated to return 22 mpg in combined city and highway driving, while the M60i is estimated at 18 mpg combined.

Which 2023 BMW X7 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X7 is offered in 2 trim levels: xDrive40i and M60i.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the value leader in the lineup, and it gives you the base 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with 48-volt mild hybrid assistance. It should suit you best if you want the strongest balance of price, performance, and efficiency, especially since it is estimated to return 22 mpg combined.
• M60i: This trim upgrades to the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with much stronger output and adds a surround-view camera system. It makes sense if you want the most powerful version and are willing to pay more for the extra performance and equipment.

The safety package is broad, but some features are reserved for higher trims or options, so check carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X7?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 38.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,556 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $52,848, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X7's resale value?

The current average of $52,848 sits slightly below last year's $63,875.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure resale value if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less depreciation risk than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average. The X7’s premium positioning and strong demand for well-equipped luxury SUVs can still support future interest, especially if you choose a desirable trim and keep the vehicle in excellent condition.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
