Used 2023 BMW M3 for Sale nearLos Angeles, CA

How much does the 2023 BMW M3 cost?

Prices have softened 1.85% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 341 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 BMW M3 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW M3 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Safety.

The 2023 BMW M3 stands out because it can be a sports car, a family car, and a luxury car at the same time, so you get a broader-use performance sedan rather than a one-note machine. It is also described as utterly fantastic to drive, with high build quality and impressive materials that reinforce its premium feel.

The trade-offs are real: the design may be polarizing, the technology can be unintuitive, and road noise can be intrusive. If you want a high-performance sedan that still works as a daily driver, those compromises may be worth it.

The market shows 36.7% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 BMW M3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 BMW M3 is presented as a well-built, premium performance car with impressive materials and construction. It also comes across as a vehicle that delivers strong driving enjoyment without feeling fragile or overly demanding in normal use.

Its performance hardware is described as smooth, refined, composed, and communicative, which supports confidence in how the car behaves over time. BMW also includes a comprehensive warranty, roadside assistance, basic connected services, and complimentary scheduled maintenance for the duration of a typical lease, if not longer.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a high-performance sedan can still be expensive to maintain and repair, so condition and service history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW M3?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear, signs of hard use, and whether the car’s condition matches its asking price. Pay extra attention to the technology and interior controls, since the car’s interface can be unintuitive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the M3, the M3 Competition, and the M3 Competition xDrive. The standard M3 is the only one with a traditional manual transmission, while Competition models use an automatic and the xDrive version adds all-wheel drive. If you want the most engaging setup and the broadest everyday appeal, the standard M3 is the key trim to compare first.
• Powertrain: Every M3 uses a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six. The standard version makes 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, while Competition models raise output to 503 hp and 479 lb-ft. The standard car uses a six-speed manual, and the Competition models use an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: The standard Active Driving Assistant includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Every M3 also includes adaptive LED headlights with automatic high-beam assist, BMW Assist eCall with automatic collision notification, an SOS emergency call button, automatic post-collision braking, and front and rear parking sensors. The Driving Assistance Professional package is available on Competition models and adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, evasive steering assist, Emergency Stop Assistant, Steering Assistant, lane-change assist, and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant.
• Infotainment: BMW Curved Display pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen with a 14.9-inch touchscreen running iDrive 8. Standard equipment includes Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, connected services, navigation, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system. Wireless smartphone charging, a personal eSIM 5G connection, a drive recorder system, and a head-up display are available upgrades.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle averaged 18.4 mpg on the evaluation loop, and the official combined rating is 19 mpg.

Which 2023 BMW M3 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW M3 is offered in 3 trim levels: M3, M3 Competition, M3 Competition xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• M3: This is the one to buy if you want the purest version of the car and the only trim with a six-speed manual transmission. It gives you the standard 473-horsepower setup and the most direct connection to the M3’s character, making it the best-value choice for driving enthusiasts who want the classic experience.
• M3 Competition: Choose this if you want more power and an automatic transmission. It raises output to 503 hp and adds the quicker-shifting eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters, Drivelogic, Sport and Manual shift modes, and Launch Control, so it suits you if you want stronger acceleration and easier daily driving.
• M3 Competition xDrive: Pick this if you want the Competition hardware plus all-wheel drive. It adds xDrive with selectable drive settings, which broadens traction and makes it the most capability-focused version for buyers who want maximum performance flexibility.

The Driving Assistance Professional package is available on Competition models, not the standard M3.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW M3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with some patience and be ready to move when the right car appears.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 341 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.85% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $79,878, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW M3's resale value?

The current average of $81,151 sits slightly below last year's $82,682.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range.

Because the year-round range runs from $79,878 to $83,054, a future seller will likely do best by buying near the lower end and preserving condition carefully. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW M3 safe?

The BMW 3 Series sedan on which the M3 is based gets high marks in all crashworthiness assessments from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), but the organization hasn’t published specific ratings for the M3 itself. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives the 3 Series sedan the highest possible ratings in all of its tests, including for rollover resistance, but does not apply these ratings to the M3 model.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Active Driving Assistant includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, active blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Every M3 also includes adaptive LED headlights with automatic high-beam assist, BMW Assist eCall with automatic collision notification, an SOS emergency call button, automatic post-collision braking, and front and rear parking sensors.

On Competition models, the available Driving Assistance Professional package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, evasive steering assist, Emergency Stop Assistant, Steering Assistant, lane-change assist, and Extended Traffic Jam Assistant. The main caveat is that the most advanced driver-assistance features are tied to Competition models.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW M3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.85% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model is praised for blending sports-car performance, family-car practicality, and luxury-car refinement in one package.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of performance, practicality, and premium feel, the 2023 is the right target. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year’s range and focus on listings near the low end, especially if you find a clean-history car with the equipment you want.
