Hyundai’s Genesis luxury brand is getting up to speed quickly. Just six years after its debut Genesis now has a fairly complete lineup of sedans and SUVs pitched against the more established German, Japanese, and American brands. Those brands all feature small sport sedans, and the 2023 G70 checks that box for Genesis.
The G70 was launched for the 2019 model year, and got a major update for 2022 that included a restyling to bring it in line with other current Genesis models. With that taken care of, the 2023 Genesis G70 carries over unchanged. It remains Genesis’ entry-level sedan, competing against the likes of the Acura TLX, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Cadillac CT4, Infiniti Q50, Lexus IS, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Genesis offers the choice of 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (badged 2.0T) and 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 (3.3T) powertrains, and rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD). Four-cylinder models are available in Standard and Sport Prestige trim levels, while V6 models add a Sport Advanced trim level between those two. Our test car was a 3.3T AWD Sport Prestige with all the bells and whistles.

The vehicle itself is beautiful, fast and seemingly well built. Test drive one and outstandingly smooth too. I wanted it! However, the resale value is very important to many buyers like myself. Many also understand that when purchasing a new vehicle, the brand new ones take a hit right off the lot. I’m usually ok with that. But 3 out if 5 stars for this one because of how incredible the depreciation is. After some last minute research that factor alone was the reason I did not go through with the deal. I don’t keep vehicles very long and this purchase would have been a mistake. Used is definitely the way to go for a Genesis in my opinion. I don’t by used vehicles—moving on.
Love these vehicles, luxury for a great cost. I am buying one asap
