Used 2022 Toyota Tacoma for Sale near Colorado

How much does the 2022 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 1.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,164 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, fuel economy, and off-road capability, and they also like its strong resale value and rugged performance. The Tacoma’s easy-to-use technology is another recurring plus, especially if you want a truck that feels straightforward rather than overly complicated.

The trade-offs are familiar: the base engine is underpowered, the back seat is cramped, and some shoppers feel the value trails competitors. That makes it a better fit if you want a smaller truck for commuting during the week and outdoor trips or weekend projects on the side.

With 31.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable, fuel-efficient, and capable of handling rough terrain with confidence. The truck also has a reputation for being durable and trustworthy over time, which lines up with the way many owners talk about long-term ownership.

The expert evaluation also describes it as supremely trusty and durable, with old-school toughness where it matters. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the Tacoma’s core durability and more about finding one that hasn’t been worn down by hard use or neglected maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a truck like this may have seen towing, trail use, or other hard miles. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the suspension, brakes, tires, and interior wear, and pay close attention to how the truck drives at low speeds and on rough pavement.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR starts with 16-inch steel wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen, and a basic cabin, while higher trims add fog lights, leather-wrapped controls, larger screens, and more comfort features. The Limited is the most road-oriented, while the TRD Pro adds unique styling, skid plates, LED fog lights, and a TRD-tuned suspension.
• Powertrain: The base 2.7-liter four-cylinder makes 159 horsepower and is underpowered, so the optional 3.5-liter V6 is the better choice for most shoppers. The V6 is standard on most trims, and the TRD models can be had with a six-speed manual transmission.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are optional, so check whether a used truck has them.
• Infotainment: The base truck uses a 7-inch touchscreen, while most trims get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa are supported, and the system is simple to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The rear-wheel-drive four-cylinder returns 20 mpg city and 23 mpg highway, while the rear-wheel-drive V6 returns 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Four-wheel-drive versions and the manual-transmission TRD models return lower figures.

Which 2022 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tacoma basics with a 7-inch touchscreen, Toyota Safety Sense, and the core truck hardware. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup, but it is the most stripped-down choice.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch touchscreen. If you want a more livable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to target.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a TRD-tuned sport suspension, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. It suits you if you want a more polished feel and extra convenience features.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the better pick if you care most about trail use, since it adds all-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, and trail-focused hardware. It is the trim to choose if off-road capability matters more than road comfort.
• Limited: This is the comfort-focused choice, with leather upholstery, JBL audio, navigation, heated front seats, and a power moonroof. It fits you best if you want the most upscale Tacoma experience.
• TRD Pro: This is the range-topper, with unique styling, skid plates, LED fog lights, a TRD-tuned suspension, and a TRD sport exhaust. It is the right pick if you want the most capable and most distinctive Tacoma.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,164 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,984, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $32,829 sits slightly below last year's $33,417.

That modest decline suggests the Tacoma is holding value reasonably well even as the market softens a bit. For a future seller, that means you are not looking at a steep drop in value, especially if your truck is clean, well maintained, and equipped with desirable features.

The Tacoma’s strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand on the used market. Buyers continue to seek it out for its reputation, which should help resale remain relatively resilient over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The Toyota Tacoma earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are optional, so you should check whether a used example has those extras.

One caveat is the grainy backup camera image, which means you should pay extra attention when reversing.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It blends easy-to-use tech with strong off-road ability and a traditional truck feel.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,052, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,829 average.
• It offers broad configuration choice and standard dual-zone climate control on V6 models.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $35,818, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $32,829 average.
• It leans harder into the Tacoma’s reputation for bullet-proof reliability.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want a Tacoma with strong appeal, solid market support, and a slightly softer price than the next model year. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is worth a look; if you want to pay more for a newer-feeling market position, the 2023 is the alternative.
