Used 2022 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2022 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 1.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,133 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — with a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, the 2022 Toyota Tacoma lands as a solid pick for shoppers who want a smaller truck with a traditional feel. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, fuel economy, and off-road capability, and they also like its good resale value and strong performance in rough terrain. The Tacoma’s easy-to-use technology is another recurring plus.

The trade-offs are familiar: the base engine is underpowered, some versions feel short on value versus rivals, and the cabin can feel cramped. That makes it a better fit if you want a commuter-friendly truck that can also handle weekend projects, camping trips, or trail use.

The market reflects that balance, with 34.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers also describe it as reliable, dependable, and trouble-free, with strong confidence in its long-term durability and ability to handle rough use.

The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by calling it supremely trusty and durable, built for whatever activity you throw at it. Toyota also positions it as a truck that stays modern where it can while keeping an old-school character where it matters.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that age-related compromises can show up in comfort, refinement, and value rather than in outright toughness.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the truck’s condition, especially if it has seen off-road use or heavy work. Pay close attention to the cabin, ride quality, and how the truck drives at low speeds and on the highway.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR starts with 16-inch steel wheels, a Class IV tow-hitch receiver, manual seats, air conditioning, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Toyota Safety Sense. Higher trims add fog lights, leather-wrapped controls, larger wheels, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, leather upholstery, navigation, heated front seats, and a power moonroof, while the TRD Pro adds unique styling, skid plates, LED fog lights, and a TRD sport exhaust.
• Powertrain: The base 2.7-liter four-cylinder makes 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, and the optional 3.5-liter V6 makes 278 hp and 265 lb-ft. Rear-wheel drive and available four-wheel drive are paired with a six-speed automatic, while TRD models can also be had with a six-speed manual.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are optional.
• Infotainment: The base truck uses a 7-inch touchscreen, while every trim but the SR gets an 8-inch screen. The system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, and the layout is simple and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.7-liter four-cylinder with rear-wheel drive returns 20 mpg city and 23 mpg highway. The V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, while 4WD versions are rated as low as 17 mpg city and 20 mpg highway depending on configuration.

Which 2022 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Tacoma basics with Toyota Safety Sense, a 7-inch touchscreen, and the core truck hardware. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and can live without the nicer cabin and convenience upgrades.
• SR5: This trim adds fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch touchscreen, with a power-sliding rear window on Double Cab V6 models. It is the best-value choice if you want a more complete daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• TRD Sport: This trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a TRD-tuned sport suspension, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, and a 10-way power driver’s seat. It suits you if you want a more polished and better-equipped Tacoma for everyday use.
• TRD Off-Road: This version adds all-terrain tires, Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, and trail-focused hardware such as Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control. It is the one to choose if your priority is dirt, trails, and weekend adventure use.
• Limited: This trim shifts toward comfort with leather upholstery, JBL premium audio, navigation, heated front seats, and a power moonroof. It fits you best if you want the most road-friendly Tacoma.
• TRD Pro: This is the range-topper, with unique styling, skid plates, LED fog lights, a TRD-tuned suspension, and a TRD sport exhaust. Choose it if you want the most capable and most distinctive Tacoma.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard on the SR, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and still find competitive listings.

• Deal availability: 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,133 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,983, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $32,748 sits slightly below last year's $33,264.

That modest decline suggests the Tacoma is holding value reasonably well rather than sliding sharply. For a future seller, that kind of movement usually points to steady demand instead of a weak market. It also means you may not see dramatic appreciation, but you can still expect the truck’s reputation to support pricing better than many rivals.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma safe?

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors are optional.

The backup camera is standard, but the image is described as grainy, so you should still be careful when backing up.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It balances commuter use with weekend adventure capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $31,908, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,748 average.
• It offers more configuration choice and a strong off-road focus.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $35,750, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $32,748 average.
• It leans harder into bullet-proof reliability and off-road brilliance.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-year pricing, broad inventory, and proven Tacoma appeal, the 2022 is the main path to consider. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while keeping much of the same core appeal.
