Used 2019 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2019 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 2.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,306 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.2/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Drivers commonly praise its reliability, solid performance, and longevity, and many also value its resale strength. The truck’s loyal following lines up with its reputation for being dependable over the long term and a vehicle you can count on. At the same time, the Tacoma’s unapologetically truck-like character means you should expect a rougher, less polished experience than many rivals.

The overview makes that trade-off clear: you’re getting a midsize pickup with a distinctive personality, strong value for money, and broad appeal if you want something ready for daily use and tougher tasks. The main drawbacks are outdated technology and poor ride quality, which are worth weighing against the truck’s strengths.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers frequently describe it as reliable, durable, and long-lasting, with many saying it feels like a truck you can depend on for years. The expert notes also reinforce that impression by emphasizing its legendary indestructibility and its reputation for holding value over time. Toyota’s free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles adds a useful ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck with this much age and mileage sensitivity can hide wear if it has been worked hard, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Tacoma?

At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, suspension, brakes, and interior wear. Because the Tacoma’s ride quality is a known weak point, pay close attention to how the truck feels over rough pavement and whether anything seems loose, noisy, or uneven. If you’re shopping a higher-mileage example, focus on signs of hard use and maintenance consistency.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Toyota differentiates the trims with unique grilles, wheels, hoods, and finishes, and the cabin uses hard, durable plastics with simple analog gauges and large knobs and buttons. The base setup is intentionally basic, so you should expect fewer comfort and convenience features than in more upscale trims.
• Powertrain: Most Tacomas have a direct-injected, Atkinson-cycle, 3.5-liter V6 with 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. V6 models include heavy-duty cooling, trailer wiring harness connections, Trailer Sway Control, and a receiver hitch, and the maximum tow rating is 6,800 pounds depending on version.
• Safety package: Every 2019 Tacoma gets Toyota Safety Sense, including adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, sway warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available for most versions.
• Infotainment: The Tacoma uses a small 7-inch display, and the system lacks Apple CarPlay in this model year. The available JBL audio system has 6 speakers.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test truck returned 20 mpg in combined driving, and the weeklong test average was 20.1 mpg.

Which 2019 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Tacoma’s core truck character at the lowest price and can live with the most basic equipment.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without pushing you into the pricier specialty models.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more style-forward Tacoma with a sportier feel and more visual distinction.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the one to buy if you want the Tacoma’s strongest off-road hardware, including Multi-terrain Select and Crawl Control when equipped with the automatic.
• Limited: This trim is the best fit if you want the most upscale Tacoma experience, but it gives up the TRD extras.
• TRD Pro: Pick this if you want the most capability-focused, top-end Tacoma setup and are willing to pay for it.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available for most versions.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also suggests the truck has already absorbed some of its recent depreciation. Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its unapologetically truck-first character, strong value, and loyal following.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $30,263, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $28,908 average.
• It adds useful design and technology updates while staying true to the Tacoma’s rugged character.

The bottom line: If you want the better price and are comfortable with the 2019’s rough edges, this year makes sense. If you’d rather pay more for a slightly updated truck, the 2020 is the cleaner upgrade path.

How does the 2019 Toyota Tacoma compare to the 2019 Ford Ranger?

Our experts score the 2019 Toyota Tacoma 7.7/10 and the 2019 Ford Ranger 7.2/10.

The Tacoma is the more characterful truck, with stronger value appeal and a bigger used-market footprint. The Ranger counters with a more powerful base engine, better fuel economy, and a lower average used price. If you want the truck with the stronger reputation and broader inventory, the Tacoma has the edge; if you want more power and efficiency for less money, the Ranger is worth a look.
