Used 2022 Toyota Sequoia for Sale near Connecticut

Is the 2022 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota Sequoia earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

It fits you best if you want a traditional, truck-based three-row SUV with rear-wheel drive or available four-wheel drive, plus a powerful engine and plenty of cargo space. The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy, outdated technology, and dated interior styling. If you value durability and utility more than modern polish, that balance can work well for you.

Good and great deals account for 37.0% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Toyota Sequoia is built around a body-on-frame layout and a single V8 powertrain, and the expert review calls the engine/transmission combination excellent for durability and reliability. That same review also describes the SUV as a solid choice for a big, adventurous family, with a reputation for durability and longevity. Toyota’s standard safety and convenience hardware also supports the ownership experience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is age-related wear from an older design, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on wear items, signs of heavy use, and how well the truck-based chassis has been maintained. Pay extra attention to the interior and tech condition, since the Sequoia’s age is one of its biggest drawbacks.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 is the least expensive way in, while the Limited adds navigation and a 12-speaker audio system. The Nightshade Special Edition is based on the Limited and adds darkened exterior trim and black-painted split-spoke 20-inch wheels, making it the best-value style upgrade if you want a more modern look without moving to the top end.
• Powertrain: You get one engine choice, the 5.7-liter i-Force V8 with 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic. It is a strong match for the Sequoia’s truck-like mission and supports its towing and durability appeal.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, and every trim gets Toyota’s STAR safety system plus a full complement of airbags and parking sonar.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard. WiFi connectivity and SiriusXM satellite radio are standard too, while the Limited adds navigation and a 12-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia returns 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway/15 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway/14 mpg combined with four-wheel drive.

Which 2022 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Pro, Limited, Platinum, and Nightshade Special Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Sequoia’s core V8 power, standard safety features, and truck-based utility at the lowest price.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a step up in appearance and road presence without moving into the more expensive upper trims.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice, and it comes standard with four-wheel drive. It suits you best if you want the Sequoia’s natural trail ability with extra suspension attention.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation and a 12-speaker audio system while staying below the luxury-oriented top trims.
• Nightshade Special Edition: Pick this if you want the Limited’s equipment with a darker, more upscale look from the blacked-out exterior treatment and 20-inch wheels.
• Platinum: This is the top trim and the priciest path, so it makes sense if you want the most upscale version of the Sequoia.

Toyota Safety Sense P and blind-spot monitoring are standard across the lineup.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the classic truck-based formula with a powerful V8, standard advanced safety features, and plenty of cargo space.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It offers a similarly roomy, truck-like three-row SUV with standard V8 power.

Consider the 2023 if:

• It brings a full redesign with modern tech and a standard hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the traditional Sequoia formula, the 2022 is the right year to target. If you want the newest technology and a redesigned cabin, the 2023 is the better path. Price-sensitive buyers should also compare the 2021, especially if they can find a cleaner example with the equipment they want.
