Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid emerges as a standout choice in the crowded three-row midsize SUV market primarily due to its exceptional fuel efficiency; it boasts an estimated 36 mpg in combined driving. This remarkable efficiency does not compromise its spacious and comfortable interior, which can comfortably seat up to eight passengers if needed. The Highlander's family-friendly features, such as sliding second-row seats and a sufficient array of tech amenities, make it appealing for those prioritizing utility alongside economy. However, while it excels in practicality, the Highlander Hybrid falls short in terms of performance and styling, as critics describe its appearance as fairly pedestrian and its ride quality as uninspired. Despite these shortcomings, its overall cost-effectiveness, given the rising fuel prices and demand for economical options, makes the Highlander Hybrid a smart choice for budget-conscious families.

I had a 2012 Highlander Hybrid XLE….loved it!! Toyota and Lexus Hybrid models until a return to the re-design of this year’s beauty. I got the Highlander Hybrid Platinum. Great ride, fantastic gas mileage. Top quality interior, nothing cheap about the quality.

Comfortable, good responsive feel on the road, feature rich, great gas mileage. Moderate storage capacity for its size in comparison to a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Not a good choice for towing above 2500 lbs.
