How much does the 2022 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 11.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,786 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — with a 4.93/5 user rating and a 5.5/10 expert rating, you’re looking at a vehicle that clearly resonates with owners even if experts are more cautious. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its iconic design, fun driving experience, and customizable features, and many also like the easy-to-use soft top and strong off-road performance. The trade-offs are just as clear: some owners think it’s overpriced, and gas mileage plus certain basic design choices can be frustrating.

That fits the Wrangler’s mission well: it’s built for buyers who want something characterful and open-air rather than conventional crossover comfort. Even so, the market still shows 37.8% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people tend to trust for its familiar formula, durable personality, and trouble-free appeal over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Wrangler’s rugged setup and off-road focus are part of what makes it feel dependable in the way buyers expect from this nameplate.

Jeep also highlights a new air filtration system for this model year, which adds a practical ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core concept and more about whether the previous owner accepted the Wrangler’s compromises and maintained it properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any Wrangler you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because this model’s condition can vary a lot depending on how hard it was used off-road or how many options it has. Focus especially on wear items, roof and door condition, and signs that the vehicle was modified or heavily used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core trims are Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon. The base setup can feel sparse, while higher trims and special editions add more convenience and appearance equipment.
• Powertrain: You can choose among a turbocharged four-cylinder, gasoline V6, turbodiesel V6, gas V8, or plug-in hybrid powertrain. The turbo-four and V6 engines come standard with a six-speed manual transmission, and an eight-speed automatic is available.
• Safety package: The Safety Group includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. The Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The larger 8.4-inch system adds satellite radio, connected services, a WiFi hotspot, navigation, and an Alpine premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The eTorque V6 is listed at 21 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 16.8 mpg over a week.

Which 2022 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Wrangler experience at the lowest starting point and plan to add only what you need.
• Sport S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it serves as the basis for more well-equipped versions and is the starting point for the High Tide special edition.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more polished, comfort-oriented take on the Wrangler without moving all the way to the most capability-focused trim.
• Rubicon: This is the one to choose if off-road capability is your priority, since it is the most trail-focused trim in the lineup.

The Safety Group is a worthwhile upgrade, while the Advanced Safety Group is more of a nice-to-have.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,786 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.08% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,781, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $29,781 sits slightly below last year's $33,492.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale will depend heavily on how well the market continues to value the Wrangler’s unique formula. If demand stays strong for open-air, off-road-focused SUVs, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than more ordinary used SUVs.

Condition and equipment matter a lot here. A Wrangler with desirable features, clean history, and strong presentation is likely to hold attention better than one that looks worn or heavily modified.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Jeep Wrangler earns a three-star rating for rollover resistance from NHTSA, and it receives Marginal ratings in IIHS small-overlap and side-impact testing.

It earns a 2/10 safety score from our experts.

The Safety Group includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors, while the Advanced Safety Group adds adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. Those features help, but they are optional rather than standard.

The crash-test results are the main caution here. The Wrangler’s tall, tippy design and weak test performance mean you should treat safety as a compromise, not a strength.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year adds a new air filtration system and a Rubicon axle-ratio update.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $27,396, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $29,781 average.
• It adds a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and a Hemi V8 for four-door buyers.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $34,737, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $29,781 average.
• It emphasizes body-on-frame off-road hardware and highlights trim-specific capability differences.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price and availability, the 2022 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense only if you’re willing to pay more for a newer model-year alternative.
