Used 2022 BMW 4 Series for Sale nearBaltimore, MD

How much does the 2022 BMW 4 Series cost?

Prices have softened 5.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 865 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series a good car?

Yes — the 2022 BMW 4 Series earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its outstanding performance, comfort, and stylish design, and they especially like the engine power and handling. The overview also points to strong driving dynamics, useful cargo space, and a technology-rich cabin as major strengths.

The trade-offs are clear: the styling can be polarizing, the back seat is cramped, and it is not a strong value play compared with some rivals. That makes it a better fit if you want a sporty luxury car with everyday usefulness rather than the most practical or budget-friendly choice.

Good and great deals account for 38.5% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers describing the car as a sporty and enjoyable choice they can count on. The performance notes also reinforce that impression, with the turbo engine feeling responsive across most of its rev range and the automatic transmission working smoothly.

BMW includes complimentary maintenance for the first three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is paying luxury-car money for a model that can still depreciate quickly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been optioned heavily or driven hard. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base 430i is available with Sport or M Sport styling, while the M440i includes an M Performance design with a partial or full blacked-out Shadowline trim treatment. The 430i test vehicle also showed that some luxury features can be missing even on a well-equipped example, so you should pay close attention to equipment differences before you buy.
• Powertrain: The 430i uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine making 255 horsepower and 294 pound-feet of torque. The eight-speed Sport automatic transmission is standard, and BMW says the 430i Gran Coupe is quoted at 5.8 seconds from rest to 60 mph.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assistant is standard on every 4 Series Gran Coupe. It includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i.
• Infotainment: Standard Live Cockpit Professional pairs a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display. You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the cloud-based navigation system is kept current by over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: BMW says the 430i Gran Coupe is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 25.3 mpg on an evaluation loop.

Which 2022 BMW 4 Series trim should I buy?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series is offered in 2 trim levels: 430i and M440i.

Here's the short version:

• 430i: This is the better-value choice if you want the core 4 Series experience without stretching to the pricier model. It delivers the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, the standard iDrive 7 setup with a 12.3-inch digital cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen, and the standard Active Driving Assistant safety suite. It also gives you the sporty character and cargo usefulness that define this model.
• M440i: Choose this if you want the more upscale and better-equipped version, especially because BMW reserves some desirable features for this trim. It adds the M Performance design treatment and unlocks the available Driving Assistance Professional Package, plus other upgrades such as the available premium audio and head-up display.

The standard safety package is strong on every 4 Series Gran Coupe, but the more advanced driver-assistance package is reserved for the M440i.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 BMW 4 Series?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 865 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,258, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $35,369 sits slightly below last year's $37,495.

That decline suggests the model has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future sellers if prices stabilize. The current range also shows that buyers are still willing to pay a meaningful premium for well-kept examples, especially ones with desirable equipment and clean history.

Because the market has softened, your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 BMW 4 Series safe?

The 2022 BMW 4 Series earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Active Driving Assistant is standard on every 4 Series Gran Coupe, and it includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, active blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. BMW also includes driver monitoring, post-collision braking, front and rear parking sensors, and connected safety services such as BMW Assist eCall and enhanced automatic collision notification.

The lane-keeping assistance system is especially effective, and the car’s standard safety suite gives you a strong baseline. The main caveat is that the more advanced Driving Assistance Professional Package is available only on the M440i, not the 430i.

Should I buy a 2022 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 Gran Coupe returns after a one-year hiatus and adds easier rear-seat access plus SUV-like cargo utility.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,011, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $35,369 average.
• It emphasizes redesigned styling, more luxury, and a technology-focused feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market mix of value, inventory, and the Gran Coupe’s practical body style. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the better price-sensitive path.
