How much does the 2021 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 12.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,941 listings available, which gives you a healthy pool of options to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 4.7/5 from owners and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, power, and comfort, and they also value its adventurous character and manual features. The expert review reinforces that appeal by framing it as a distinctive, iconic SUV with strong capability and multiple powertrain choices.

The trade-offs are clear: poor ride quality and poor handling are part of the package, and some buyers will also notice a lack of modern polish. That makes it a better fit if you want a rugged, personality-driven SUV rather than a comfort-first daily driver.

Good and great deals account for 36.9% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways Wrangler shoppers care about most: it delivers the rugged, trouble-free character, long-term appeal, and confidence-inspiring capability that keep buyers coming back. The expert review also emphasizes that Jeep continues to update the Wrangler to meet buyer demand, which supports its reputation for staying relevant over time.

The Wrangler’s straightforward mechanical setup and proven powertrain choices should help with long-term ownership confidence, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how hard the vehicle was used off-road.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any Wrangler you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. A pre-purchase inspection matters here because off-road use, modifications, and wear from hard use can affect condition in ways that aren’t obvious in photos. Focus on body condition, interior wear, and signs that the vehicle has been used as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is the bare-bones starting point with manual door locks, black plastic fenders and bumpers, cloth seats, manual side mirrors, a 5-inch audio display, and USB and auxiliary inputs. The Sport S adds power windows and locks, power heated side mirrors, air conditioning, and remote keyless entry, while also opening the door to useful options like the Cold Weather Package and Technology Group. The Sahara is the more street-oriented choice with dual-zone climate control, upgraded premium cloth upholstery, larger brakes, and a 7-inch touchscreen. The Rubicon is the off-road-focused trim with beefed-up suspension and running gear, two-piece fender flares, and many of the comfort features of the Sahara. The best-value trim is the Sport S if you want a more usable daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-liter V6 makes 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque and can be paired with either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic. Other options include a mild-hybrid eTorque version of the V6, a 270-hp turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 with 260 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, a Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid with 275 hp and up to 22 miles of electric range, and the Rubicon 392’s 6.4-liter V8 with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring are available, but they are optional. Lane-departure warning is not available. The backup camera with dynamic guidelines is standard, but the base setup is otherwise pretty basic.
• Infotainment: The Sport uses a basic 5-inch screen. Jeep recommends stepping up to the 7-inch Uconnect screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is optional on the Sport S and standard on other trims. An 8.4-inch Uconnect screen is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Wrangler 4xe returns 40 MPGe and 20 mpg combined once the battery is depleted. The EcoDiesel returns 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The gas 2.0-liter turbo returns 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The automatic V6 returns 19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the manual V6 returns 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The Rubicon 392 returns 13 mpg city, 17 mpg highway, and 14 mpg combined.

Which 2021 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the most stripped-down Wrangler, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add options carefully.
• Sport S: This is the trim most shoppers should start with because it adds the everyday conveniences you’ll miss in the Sport and unlocks key tech and comfort packages.
• Sahara: Choose this if you want a more street-friendly Wrangler with more comfort and a better standard infotainment setup.
• Rubicon: Pick this if off-road capability is your priority, since it brings the most trail-focused hardware and the strongest off-road character.

The safety package is mostly optional across the lineup, so check each listing carefully for the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Wrangler?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,941 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,745, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $27,745 sits slightly below last year's $31,625.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy now, you’re entering at a lower average cost than a year ago, which can help cushion depreciation if prices stabilize. The Wrangler’s broad appeal and strong enthusiast following should continue to support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Safety equipment is limited in the base configuration, and many driver-assistance features are optional rather than standard. You can get forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring, but lane-departure warning is not available. The backup camera with dynamic guidelines is standard, but the overall safety package is still pretty basic.

That means you should pay close attention to the exact equipment on any used example, especially if you want more than the bare minimum in driver assistance.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 adds the Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid and Hemi V8 to the four-door lineup.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,248, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $27,745 average.
• It adds a new diesel engine for more torque and broader appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $30,024, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,745 average.
• It adds more open-air versatility and keeps the Wrangler’s distinctive character front and center.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, inventory, and feature breadth, the 2021 is the best place to start. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2020 is the smarter value play. If you want to spend more for the next model year’s updates, the 2022 is worth a look, but the 2021 still offers the most balanced shopping case.
