How much does the 2021 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 11.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,893 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Ford Edge a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Ford Edge earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Technology and Safety.

It fits well if you want a roomy two-row midsize SUV with a comfortable cabin and multiple powertrain options. The trade-offs are clear: handling is a weak point, and the technology is described as outdated relative to newer rivals.

That said, the Edge still makes sense if you value space and comfort over sharp driving dynamics or the latest redesign. 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Edge is described as a familiar, long-running formula rather than a fresh redesign, which can be a plus if you want a proven layout. It also benefits from a comfortable cabin and a straightforward ownership experience, even if the platform itself is aging.

Its standard powertrain and mainstream warranty coverage point to a conventional ownership profile, and the available tech and safety equipment help it stay relevant. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and dated hardware may show up sooner than in newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Edge?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, because this model year’s appeal depends heavily on finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by age.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium, and ST are the trims mentioned here. The base SE misses adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, while higher trims add more upscale or sport-focused equipment.
• Powertrain: Most models use a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and either FWD or AWD. The ST uses a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 with 335 hp and 380 lb-ft, standard AWD, and model-specific suspension tuning.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, post-collision braking, dynamic brake support, and rear parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, plus Evasive Steering Assist, are standard on all but the base SE.
• Infotainment: You get Sync 4 with a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM with 360L, and a built-in 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. The ST also adds a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Four-cylinder FWD models are rated at 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, while four-cylinder AWD models are rated at 21 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. The V6 AWD ST is rated at 19 mpg city and 25 mpg highway.

Which 2021 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford Edge is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium, and ST.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, but it’s also the trim where you give up adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and plan to add nothing beyond the basics.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more of the Edge’s useful equipment without jumping into the pricier appearance or luxury-focused trims. If you want the sweet spot between price and features, start here.
• ST-Line: Choose this if you want the sportier look of the ST without paying for the ST’s performance upgrades. It’s the style-first choice in the lineup.
• Titanium: This is the upscale pick, with leather upholstery and a more premium feel. It suits you if comfort and a richer cabin matter more than sporty character.
• ST: This is the performance model, with the twin-turbo V6, standard AWD, model-specific suspension tuning, and upgraded brakes available with an option package. It’s the right choice if you want the strongest powertrain and the most aggressive setup.

Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering is standard on all but the base SE trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Edge?

The market looks moderate for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,893 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 78.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,689, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $18,697 sits slightly below last year's $21,225.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later.

For a future seller, the key is to buy carefully and avoid overpaying now. A lower entry price gives you more room to absorb normal depreciation while still staying competitive when it’s time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford Edge safe?

The 2021 Ford Edge is a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and earns five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests, and four-star ratings in rollover crash tests from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, post-collision braking, dynamic brake support, and rear parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, plus Evasive Steering Assist, are standard on all but the base SE trim level.

The main caveats are the lower IIHS rating for vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention tech, the Acceptable LATCH result, and headlight ratings that vary by trim level.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model adds Sync 4 with a 12-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $16,492, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $18,697 average.
• It offers plenty of standard tech and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more current version, the 2021 is the stronger pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable with an older setup, the 2020 can still make sense.
