overall

Summary
With 195 currently listed for sale near Washington, DC and an average price of $21,297, 30.3% of 2021 Ford Bronco Sports for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 4.15 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.33 / 10.

Why it stands out
Ford lets the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport out to romp, and that spirit comes through in its lively, capable personality. In testing, it came across as a spunky compact two-row crossover SUV that is attractive and well suited to both on- and off-pavement adventures. Its stylish design, great handling, and impressive technology help it stand out in a crowded class.
There are tradeoffs, though. The main drawback called out in testing is that the interior materials feel cheap, and owner feedback echoes concerns about cabin quality, especially the small back seat. Even so, the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has clear appeal for buyers who want a compact SUV with a more adventurous character than the usual commuter crossover.

This is the car I ended up getting and it was amazing!! I love the cute features of the bronco tied with its functionality. I do a lot of highway driving but also love to go on adventures and do a bit of off-roading this is the perfect vehicle for both.

This is the first vehicle I have ever purchased without having the opportunity to see it in advance, due to the shortage of vehicles overall. I enjoy the performance and handling thus far. Great turning radius. I very much enjoy the medium size of the vehicle as an SUV. It is not compact yet it is not bulky. There is ample room in the back for most needs, especially with the rear seats folded down. The leg room in the back seat is limited, but adequate. I am glad to have purchased the upgraded Outer Banks Model. The added features were worth the cost of the upgrade.

Owners repeatedly praise its style, good fuel economy, and off-road capability, and the expert review backs up the Bronco Sport’s lively, capable personality. The trade-offs are familiar: interior materials feel cheap, the back seat is small, and some owners find the Auto-Stop feature annoying.
That mix makes the Bronco Sport a strong fit if you want a compact SUV with more adventurous character than a typical commuter crossover. 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you have room to shop carefully.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport reliable?
Owners rate it 4.15/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a vehicle people can count on for the kind of use it was built for, especially if you value a dependable, trouble-free SUV with adventurous character. The expert review also describes it as a capable companion for on- and off-pavement driving, which supports the idea that it should hold up well in everyday use.
If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the mission and more about finding one that hasn’t been worn down by hard use or neglected maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still run a history report on any candidate and pay close attention to signs of trail use, interior wear, and uneven tire or suspension condition. A careful inspection matters here because this model is often bought for weekend adventures, which can mean more abuse than a typical commuter SUV. Focus especially on cabin condition and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base model starts with 17-inch Sparkle Silver wheels, while Big Bend gets 17-inch Carbonized Gray-painted high-gloss aluminum wheels. Outer Banks steps up to 18-inch machined-face aluminum Ebony Black-painted wheels with all-season tires, and Badlands uses the same wheels with 28.5-inch all-terrain tires. First Edition adds 17-inch Ebony Black-painted wheels with 29-inch all-terrain tires. The cabin also steps up from cloth seats to leather-trimmed, heated sport-contour bucket seats and then to Navy Pier Leather power front seats on the First Edition.
- Powertrain: Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks use a 1.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder gasoline direct-injection engine with 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. Badlands and First Edition use a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline direct-injection engine with 245 hp and 275 lb-ft. All models have an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Every trim comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, which includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a reversing camera. Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.
- Infotainment: The 8-inch infotainment touchscreen runs SYNC 3 and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ford+Alexa and SiriusXM are available, and FordConnect with 4G LTE WiFi hotspot is standard. A Bang & Olufsen sound system is available on Outer Banks and above.
- Fuel efficiency: Owners praise the fuel economy, but no MPG figure is stated here.
Which 2021 Ford Bronco Sport trim should I buy?
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is offered in 5 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, Badlands, and First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Bronco Sport’s core personality, standard all-wheel drive, and the full Ford Co-Pilot360 safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable skipping some convenience features.
- Big Bend: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more polish without jumping too far in price. You still get the 1.5-liter engine, and it builds on the Base with more comfort and convenience.
- Outer Banks: This trim is the better pick if you want a more upscale feel, since it adds leather-trimmed touches, heated features, and more tech. It also opens the door to available premium audio and camera upgrades.
- Badlands: Choose this if you want the stronger 2.0-liter engine and the more trail-focused hardware that comes with it. It adds the more capable off-road setup, making it the right fit if you plan to use the Bronco Sport’s adventure side more seriously.
- First Edition: This is the fully loaded version, with the most equipment and the strongest feature set. It’s the one to buy if you want the most complete Bronco Sport package and don’t mind paying for it.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 3,162 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.50% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 82.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $20,442, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport's resale value?
The current average of $20,442 sits slightly below last year's $22,840.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what a future seller can expect. If prices stay near this level, resale value will depend more on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should still draw attention, especially because the Bronco Sport has a clear identity that many shoppers want.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.15/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport safe?
The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, which gives you a broad set of driver-assistance features across the lineup.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
That standard suite includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a reversing camera. Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centering, evasive steering assist, navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and road-sign recognition, though road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.
Should I buy a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.50% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.15/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 model brings the Bronco Sport’s lively, capable personality, plus strong handling and impressive technology.
The bottom line: If you want the Bronco Sport’s adventurous character and you’re shopping for value, the 2021 is a sensible target because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye out for well-kept listings near the low end of the range, but prioritize condition and equipment over chasing the absolute cheapest example.
