CarGurus Analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco
overall

Summary
With 2,034 currently listed for sale and an average price of $37,401.00, 30.8% of 2021 Ford Broncos for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 Ford Bronco 4.47 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
89.5% of 2021 Bronco models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 Ford Bronco stands out as a long-awaited return to showrooms, built with a sharp focus on off-road capability and a softer emphasis on comfort. It offers two available powertrains, a choice of manual or automatic transmissions, standard four-wheel drive, clever engineering, and bold styling, giving it a clear identity as a purpose-built off-roader rather than a general-purpose SUV.
That focus pays off in the areas that matter most to buyers looking for adventure. The Bronco’s excellent off-road capability is its biggest strength, and its stylish design and great ride quality add to its appeal. At the same time, it is not trying to hide its compromises: poor fuel economy, noise, and a stereo that is lacking are all part of the package. For shoppers who value capability and character over refinement, the 2021 Ford Bronco makes a strong case for itself.

Love it! Came with the lux package and the heated steering wheel is coming in handy this time of the year. The only thing thats disappointing is the charging pad sucks and I wish it had the auxillary switches for future mods.

| Year-Round High | $41,135.53 |

Prices have softened 9.17% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,047 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.
If you find a listing below $37,327.91, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco a good car?
Generally — the 2021 Ford Bronco earns a 4.47/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.
Drivers consistently praise its design, smooth ride, and versatility, and many also like the powerful performance and advanced tech features. The Bronco’s off-road focus and character come through clearly, which is a big part of its appeal. The main trade-offs are the noise from the soft tops and some roof-fitting complaints, along with the fact that it is built more for capability than everyday refinement.
That makes it a strong fit if you want an adventure-first SUV with personality rather than a quiet commuter. With 32.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco reliable?
Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers’ feedback points to a vehicle that feels fun, versatile, and dependable enough to inspire repeat enthusiasm, especially among buyers who value its rugged character. The expert drive notes also emphasize how sure-footed, balanced, and capable it feels on the trail, which supports the sense that it is built to handle hard use. Ford’s off-road traction system is described as easy to operate and effective, which adds confidence for owners who plan to use the Bronco as intended.
If you buy used, the biggest long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about how previous owners treated the roof, tires, and off-road hardware.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Bronco?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a close inspection of the roof, doors, and interior trim, since this model’s removable-body design and off-road mission can expose wear that ordinary SUVs may not show. Focus on condition first, then make sure the equipment matches the way you plan to use it.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Base trim starts with a basic safety setup, while the Big Bend and Black Diamond can add the Mid Package with more driver-assistance features. Higher trims such as Outer Banks, Wildtrak, and Badlands can add the High Package with a 360-degree camera and forward-sensing system.
- Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, or an optional twin-turbo 2.7-liter four-cylinder with 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. The 2.3-liter pairs with a seven-speed manual, while the 2.7-liter uses a 10-speed automatic.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot 360 includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, and rear-view camera with backup assist grid lines. Some of these features are tied to the Mid Package rather than standard equipment.
- Infotainment: The Bronco uses SYNC 4 with enhanced voice recognition, an 8-inch standard touchscreen, and an available 12-inch screen. Wireless device charging is part of the Lux Package.
- Fuel efficiency: The Bronco is described as having poor fuel economy, and the standard 32-inch tires are noted as a better choice for quieter everyday driving than the 35-inch setup.
Which 2021 Ford Bronco trim should I buy?
The 2021 Ford Bronco is offered in 7 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Badlands, Wildtrak, and First Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: This is the most stripped-down choice, and it starts with only a basic safety setup and airbags. If you want the Bronco experience at the lowest entry point, this is the one to watch, but you will give up a lot of convenience and driver-assistance content.
- Sweet-spot trim: Big Bend is the most balanced pick if you want a more usable Bronco without jumping too far up the price ladder. It can add the Mid Package, which brings useful safety and convenience upgrades that make daily driving easier.
- Premium/top trim: Outer Banks is the better upscale choice if you want more comfort and tech, especially because it can add the High Package with a 360-degree camera and forward-sensing system.
- Off-road trim: Badlands is the most compelling choice if you want serious trail hardware and capability, but it is more specialized than the trims most daily drivers need.
The safety-package split matters here: the Mid Package is available on Big Bend and Black Diamond, while the High Package is available on Outer Banks, Wildtrak, and Badlands.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Bronco?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a fire sale.
- Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,047 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $37,327.91, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 Ford Bronco's resale value?
The current average of $37,363 sits slightly below last year's $41,136.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than buyers had a year ago. For a future seller, that can mean less immediate upside if you buy at today’s average and try to resell quickly. Still, the Bronco’s strong demand, distinctive identity, and broad appeal should help support values better than a more ordinary SUV.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 Ford Bronco safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot 360 is the named driver-assistance suite here, and it includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, and rear-view camera with backup assist grid lines. The catch is that several of those features are tied to the Mid Package rather than standard equipment, so you should confirm exactly what is on the truck you are considering.
The Bronco also gets a safety knock for its removable doors, and Ford notes that the side curtain airbags are designed to work with sensors that account for off-road roll conditions. Crash-test ratings have not been released yet, so you should lean heavily on equipment verification and condition checks when shopping used.
Should I buy a 2021 Ford Bronco or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It marks the Bronco’s long-awaited return with strong off-road focus and bold styling.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $38,313, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,363 average.
- It broadens appeal with better pavement manners and a deeper model roster.
The bottom line: If you want the lower average price and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2021 is the better value play. If you want a broader lineup and can pay a bit more, the next year is the more flexible choice for many buyers.
