Summary
With 93 currently listed for sale and an average price of $29,408, 33.3% of 2020 Toyota Sienna listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Toyota Sienna 4.71 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2020 Toyota Sienna stands out as a practical, space-focused minivan in a market that often favors image over utility. It is described as neither the newest nor flashiest option, but it is positioned as especially appealing when a buyer needs room for people and gear. One of its most distinctive traits is that it is the only minivan to offer all-wheel drive, which gives it a rare advantage for shoppers who want extra traction in a family hauler.
It also brings several strengths that support its everyday usefulness. The Sienna is noted for great handling, plenty of cargo space, and standard advanced safety features. Those qualities help explain why it remains attractive to buyers who value versatility and confidence behind the wheel. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the cabin’s ergonomic design is criticized, and the steering is described as twitchy. Some owners also mention disappointment with pricing and the lack of certain automated features on lower-end models, so the Sienna’s appeal is strongest for shoppers who prioritize space, safety, and all-weather capability over polish and cutting-edge convenience.

This is my second Toyota Sienna XLE. Love the XLE model, it cruises smoothly on the highway and has the safety features we’re accustomed to. We wanted the 2020 as we didn’t want a hybrid which all 2021 models are, no choice in that. We do wish the backup camera had the yellow guide like my Highlander Limited model but overall we’re ecstatic. I look forward to driving this Sienna until the wheels fall off, literally!

Features OK. Pre-2021 Sienna holds more cargo than any other minivan made in the last 20 years. High priced, but will last 200,000 miles.

The Toyota Sienna is a comfortable, reliable van. If taken care of and I mean regular maintenance, this van will last a long time. I have owned a 2003, 2009, 2015 and now a 2020. I compared it to other vans and they are safe in addition to reliable.

The 2020 Sienna XLE has a nice base package included in the msrp. I think it drives better than an SUV and will get better gas mileage. And the cargo space is larger. Thumbs up on the Sienna

| Year-Round High | $28,987 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $28,996 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −9.25% |

There are 1,186 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Toyota Sienna earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its smooth driving experience, comfort, and spacious cargo area. Reliability and safety also come through as recurring strengths, which helps explain the strong satisfaction score. In practical terms, this is the kind of minivan that fits you well if you want room for people and gear, plus the confidence of all-wheel drive availability. The main trade-offs are a dated cabin and twitchy steering, and some shoppers may also wish for more automated features on lower-end models. Even so, 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still room to find value.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers repeatedly highlighting reliability alongside comfort and practicality. The expert evaluation also reinforces that sense of confidence by emphasizing the Sienna’s family-hauling usefulness and all-weather capability. Toyota’s standard safety tech adds another layer of reassurance for long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the core vehicle and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Sienna?
At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible wear. Focus on condition first: bodywork, interior wear, and signs of inconsistent maintenance matter more when the market includes a meaningful number of incident-affected listings. If possible, compare several examples side by side so you can separate a clean, well-kept van from one that simply looks good in photos.
Key things to evaluate:
Trim level: The base L comes relatively well equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, remote keyless entry, three-zone climate control, five USB ports, three 12-volt outlets, Bluetooth, a WiFi hot spot, and a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay. The LE adds dual power sliding doors, black roof rails, a rear bumper protector, easy-clean upholstery, manual second- and third-row sunshades, and an overhead driver console, making it especially family-friendly. CarGurus recommends the SE because it adds 19-inch alloy wheels, a mesh grille, fog lights, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a power rear liftgate, which is a major convenience upgrade for families. The XLE adds leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, an upgraded instrument panel, woodgrain accents, and one-touch power windows, while the Limited adds leather front seats, a heated and leather-trimmed steering wheel, a JBL premium audio system, and navigation. The Limited Premium adds the DVD entertainment system, HID headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
Powertrain: All trims use a 3.5-liter V6 with 296 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and AWD is available on every trim except the base L. AWD versions are limited to the 7-passenger configuration, so you give up the 8-passenger setup if you choose it. The front-wheel-drive version returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined, while AWD versions return 18/24/20.
Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on the XLE and Limited.
Infotainment: Every trim uses a 7-inch touchscreen, and the base system supports Amazon Alexa and Apple CarPlay. Bluetooth connectivity, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot are standard, and the hotspot includes a 6-month trial before requiring a subscription. The screen size does not increase on higher trims, but navigation and a JBL 10-speaker premium audio system are available on the Limited.
Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model returns 19 mpg city, 26 highway, and 21 combined, while AWD versions return 18/24/20.
Which 2020 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2020 Toyota Sienna is offered in 8 trim levels: L, LE, SE, SE Premium, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, and Limited Premium.
Here's the short version:
L: This is the least expensive way into the Sienna, and it already gives you a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, a WiFi hotspot, and a strong standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without power sliding doors or extra convenience features.
LE: This is the family-friendly value pick because it adds dual power sliding doors, easy-clean upholstery, roof rails, and manual sunshades. If you want a practical step up from the base trim without chasing luxury features, this is the one to target.
SE: This is the best-value trim overall because it adds the power rear liftgate, heated front seats, leather upholstery, fog lights, and a more distinctive look. If you want the most useful upgrade for daily family life, this is the trim to buy.
SE Premium: Choose this if you want the SE’s equipment plus a power moonroof, DVD entertainment system, EasySpeak intercom, and touch-sensor auto-locking door handles. It suits buyers who want more rear-seat entertainment and convenience.
XLE: This trim adds leather-trimmed seating, heated front seats, an upgraded instrument panel, woodgrain accents, and one-touch power windows. It is a good fit if you want a more upscale cabin without moving all the way to the top end.
XLE Premium: This trim builds on the XLE with additional premium touches and is the better choice if you want more comfort and convenience equipment while staying below the luxury-focused trims.
Limited: This is the upscale choice, with leather front seats, a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, JBL premium audio, navigation, and extra storage features. It suits you if cabin comfort and tech matter more than price.
Limited Premium: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the DVD entertainment system, HID headlights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. It is the right pick if you want the most features and do not mind paying for them.
Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on the XLE and Limited.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,186 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.25% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 68.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $26,160, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $26,315 sits slightly below last year's $28,996.
That price movement suggests the Sienna has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help limit further downside for a future seller. If you buy at the right price and keep the van in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell. The current market also shows enough demand and inventory movement to support a healthy used-car audience. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Toyota Sienna safe?
The 2020 Toyota Sienna earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS in many areas, including side crash, rollover crash, and moderate front overlap crash.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning and avoidance with pedestrian detection, dynamic cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring is optional on lower trims and standard on the XLE and Limited. The main caveat is the Sienna’s twitchy steering, which makes the standard lane-keeping and collision-avoidance tech especially relevant for everyday driving.
Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.25% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out as the only minivan offering all-wheel drive, which is a rare advantage for family buyers who want extra traction.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $34,119, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,315 average.
- Toyota gave it a major redesign and made hybrid power standard.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and useful all-wheel-drive availability. If your priority is newer design and improved efficiency, it makes sense to stretch to the 2021, but you should expect to pay more for that upgrade.
