Used 2020 Subaru WRX STI for Sale nearBoston, MA

How much does the 2020 Subaru WRX STI cost?

Prices have softened 2.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 371 listings available, which suggests you should have some room to compare options.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru WRX STI earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The STI fits you best if you want a rally-inspired performance sedan with standard all-wheel drive and a manual transmission. It is built around a turbocharged engine and a driver-focused setup, and CarGurus’ test-drive notes describe it as fun to drive. The trade-offs are clear: the technology feels outdated, and the cabin is not trying to be a luxury showcase.

Only 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market looks selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The STI’s appeal is rooted in a durable, old-school performance formula: a turbocharged boxer engine, standard all-wheel drive, and a manual transmission. CarGurus’ test-drive notes also describe the interior as fairly Spartan but likely to hold up to long-term abuse, which is a useful sign if you plan to keep the car for years.

The performance hardware is substantial, but the car’s age and enthusiast history mean condition matters a lot more than mileage alone when you shop used.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru WRX STI?

At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and any evidence of modifications or track-style driving, since this model’s performance focus can attract aggressive ownership. Pay close attention to the condition of the drivetrain, suspension, brakes, and interior controls.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The STI’s styling is unique to this model, and the cabin is fairly Spartan, though the Series.White limited edition adds model-specific exterior details, Recaro front seats, and Ultrasuede upholstery.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer-four makes 310 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, and the STI is available only with a six-speed manual.
• Safety package: EyeSight driver-assistance tech is not available on cars with manual transmissions, so you should not expect that suite on this model.
• Infotainment: Subaru’s Starlink system includes a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio compatibility, and two front USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 16 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.

Which 2020 Subaru WRX STI trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru WRX STI is offered in 2 trim levels: STI and WRX STI Limited.

Here's the short version:

• STI: This is the trim to start with if you want the core STI experience: standard all-wheel drive, a six-speed manual, a turbocharged 310-horsepower engine, and the rally-bred character that defines the car. It gives you the essential performance hardware without pushing you into the pricier Limited.
• WRX STI Limited: Choose this if you want more creature comforts and are willing to pay more for them. The available information points to a higher starting price and a more upscale equipment mix, so it makes sense if you want the STI formula with a little more everyday polish.

The safety content also notes that EyeSight driver-assistance tech is not available with the manual transmission.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru WRX STI?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 371 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,504, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI's resale value?

The current average of $29,748 sits slightly below last year's $30,521.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become a bit more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady among shoppers who want a performance sedan with a manual transmission and standard all-wheel drive. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. The key is avoiding examples with accident history or signs of heavy use, since those can weigh on future value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru WRX STI safe?

The 2020 Subaru WRX STI earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, with five stars in all crash tests except the driver’s side frontal test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The STI does not get EyeSight driver-assistance tech, which means it misses out on features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keep assist. That absence matters because the manual transmission prevents those systems from being available here. The IIHS has not tested the STI itself, though the base WRX received the highest “good” rating in all crash tests.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru WRX STI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a compelling performance car with standard all-wheel drive and a manual transmission.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,753, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,748 average.
• It adds a more focused, old-school performance feel with a dated design and updated infotainment history.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because it delivers the STI formula at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2021 is the path to consider, but the core appeal remains very similar.
