Is the 2020 Subaru Impreza reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user summary also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers emphasizing how much they trust its all-wheel-drive setup and everyday usability. That kind of feedback suggests the car is built to be counted on over time, especially if you want a compact car that handles regular commuting without drama. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is finding a neglected example, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Impreza?

At 66.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the price looks unusually attractive. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for bodywork quality, uneven wear, and any signs of poor repairs. Focus on overall condition first, since the best used examples will usually be the ones with clean records and consistent maintenance.

• Inventory: There are 754 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.26% compared with last year.

What is the 2020 Subaru Impreza's resale value?

The current average of $16,461 sits slightly below last year's $17,194.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it can also mean future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong condition and a clean history should help your car stand out when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Impreza or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,348, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $16,461 average.
• It adds SI-Drive on Premium trims.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model and want the added SI-Drive availability, the 2021 is the better secondary path for shoppers who prioritize that feature over price.
