How much does the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?

Prices have softened 10.93% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 572 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class earns a 4.9/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, impressive performance, comfort, and advanced features. The overview also frames it as a flagship luxury sedan that works especially well if you want a polished cabin and a technology-forward full-size sedan. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find attractive pricing.

Is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a reliable ownership experience in the sense that owners value its comfort, performance, and advanced features over time. That said, high maintenance costs can still affect the long-term ownership equation for used buyers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a shop that knows luxury sedans. Focus on condition details that matter most on a used flagship, including signs of prior bodywork, maintenance consistency, and any evidence of expensive wear items.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 572 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,226, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?

The current average of $46,226 sits slightly below last year's $51,899.

That softer pricing can help you buy more favorably now, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation. If you plan to sell later, the current market trend means your future resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Strong demand for well-kept examples should help support value, especially for buyers who want a flagship luxury sedan with a premium reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $57,780, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $46,226 average.
• The redesign brings a more sophisticated infotainment system and updated powertrains.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2020 if you want the stronger value proposition and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget, the 2021 is the better upgrade path; if price matters most, the 2020 is the smarter buy.
