Used 2020 Honda Passport for Sale nearChicago, IL

How much does the 2020 Honda Passport cost?

Prices have softened 6.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 937 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Honda Passport a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.5/5 model with an expert rating of 8.8/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, spaciousness, smooth ride, and useful cargo-hauling ability. The Passport also earns credit for its strong V6 engine and practical everyday utility, which fits well with its two-row, upmarket, road-and-trail positioning.

The trade-offs are poor fuel economy, plus some owner concerns about electrical issues and an infotainment system that feels outdated. If you want a practical SUV with a more adventurous character, this model year fits that brief well, especially if you value comfort and cargo space over efficiency.

Only 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the best examples may still require quick action.

Is the 2020 Honda Passport reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as comfortable, spacious, smooth-riding, and useful for hauling cargo, and they also point to its strong V6 as a dependable part of the ownership experience. The expert review also emphasizes that the Passport’s performance stays composed in a variety of driving situations and that it held up well during demanding testing.

The Passport’s practical design and proven powertrain should help long-term ownership confidence, but used buyers should still watch for electrical issues and verify that the infotainment system works properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Passport?

At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history. Focus on overall condition, electrical operation, and how well the cabin tech and convenience features work, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Passport comes in Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite. The base trim is the most stripped-down, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience, including features like heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated rear outboard seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory, and a moonroof.
• Powertrain: Every Passport uses a 3.5-liter V6 paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on the lower trims, all-wheel drive is available, and the system can send torque rearward for added confidence in poor weather and light off-road use.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes Collision Mitigation Braking System with forward-collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add dynamic gridlines for the rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic detection.
• Infotainment: The base Sport uses a 5.0-inch display, while EX-L, Touring, and Elite get an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims can also add a 10-speaker audio system, satellite radio, two extra USB ports, a wireless phone charger, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The Passport is rated at 20 mpg city and 25 mpg highway with front-wheel drive, or 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway with all-wheel drive.

Which 2020 Honda Passport trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda Passport is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Passport’s core rugged styling, standard safety tech, and basic infotainment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is the least feature-rich version.
• EX-L: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds the more desirable infotainment setup and a stronger comfort-and-convenience mix without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Touring: This trim is the right step up if you want more tech and convenience, and it can also be paired with additional safety and navigation features for an extra fee.
• Elite: This is the most fully equipped version, with the richest comfort features and the most upscale feel. It suits you best if you want the Passport loaded from the start.

Honda Sensing is standard, while higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic detection.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Passport?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 937 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,174, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda Passport's resale value?

The current average of $22,174 sits slightly below last year's $23,691.

That softer pricing suggests the Passport has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy at today’s average, you’re starting from a lower cost basis than last year’s shoppers, which can help cushion depreciation pressure.

The Passport’s broad appeal should still support demand, especially because it combines comfort, space, and a more rugged identity. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda Passport safe?

The 2020 Passport achieved good scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) crash test and evaluation. It was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes Collision Mitigation Braking System with forward-collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. A standard rearview camera with a birds-eye view is also included.

Higher trims add dynamic gridlines for the rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic detection. That means you’ll want to check carefully whether a lower-trim listing has the driver-assistance features you want.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Passport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.40% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 carries over unchanged and keeps the Passport’s comfortable, rugged, two-row formula.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $20,105, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $22,174 average.
• It emphasizes space, all-wheel drive, and high ground clearance.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $24,046, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,174 average.
• It adds some additional features while keeping the Passport’s familiar comfort-and-adventure balance.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the right default if you want the Passport’s core strengths at a softer price than last year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2019 can save you money; if you want a newer example with a few added features, the 2021 is the better step up.
