Used 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback for Sale nearColumbus, OH

How much does the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 5.11% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 953 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its sporty handling, stylish design, and impressive fuel efficiency, and many also like the improved features and sound insulation over previous models. In practical terms, that lines up with a hatchback that feels engaging to drive while still working well as everyday transportation.

The main trade-off is outdated technology, and the expert review also points to a cabin that can feel less modern than rivals. Even so, the overview makes clear that this model year is aimed at you if you want a stylish, fun-to-drive hatchback with strong efficiency rather than the newest tech package.

With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with many drivers appreciating its trouble-free ownership experience and the confidence that comes from a model they can count on. That same feedback also ties into the Civic Hatchback’s strong fuel efficiency and overall satisfaction with the way it fits into long-term ownership.

The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the engine as quiet, refined, and well mannered, which supports the sense that the car is easy to live with over time. It also notes that the car’s value proposition is strongest for buyers who like the way it looks and want a hatchback that feels rewarding to own.

If you’re shopping used, the biggest long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether a given car has been maintained well and avoided the wear that can come with higher-mileage compact hatchbacks.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a car with a lower price or higher mileage. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the car’s equipment and safety systems work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience equipment. The Sport Touring stands out with stitched leather on the steering wheel, soft surfaces, quality materials, and a quieter cabin, but it also carries a much higher price.
• Powertrain: The hatchback uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder, with 174 horsepower in LX, EX, and EX-L trims and 180 horsepower in Sport and Sport Touring trims. The CVT and 6-speed manual each bring different torque figures, and the manual adds a more involved driving feel.
• Safety package: Every Civic Hatchback includes Honda Sensing, which bundles forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. CVT-equipped versions also add low-speed following capability. There’s no blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert, and LaneWatch only covers the right-side blind spot.
• Infotainment: In all but LX trim, you get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Bluetooth and a volume knob. Sport Touring adds Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, text-messaging support, navigation, a quick-charging USB port, and a 12-speaker premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive recorded 32 mpg in combined driving, and the testing loop returned 32.7 mpg.

Which 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Civic Hatchback. It gets the core hatchback formula, but it also misses out on the 7-inch touchscreen found on higher trims.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it keeps the Civic Hatchback’s style and adds more of the look and feel that makes the car appealing. It also mirrors the test car’s more upscale vibe without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• EX: Choose this if you want a more comfort-oriented middle ground with more equipment than the Sport, while still staying below the leather-lined upper trim.
• EX-L: This is the trim to target if you want the most upscale feel short of the Sport Touring setup, especially if you care more about comfort and materials than keeping the price down.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 953 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 56.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,428, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $19,678 sits slightly below last year's $20,738.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also suggests a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays similar. A model that has already moved down from its prior average can be easier to buy well, but it may also mean resale gains are limited unless the car is especially clean and well equipped.

Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand later, especially for a car that people describe as stylish, fun to drive, and efficient. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback did not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety because of a Poor performance in the headlight category.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Civic Hatchback includes Honda Sensing, which brings forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, Road Departure Mitigation, and adaptive cruise control. CVT-equipped versions also add low-speed following capability.

A key caveat is that this version of Honda Sensing is described as aging, with lane-keeping assist lacking refinement and adaptive cruise control braking for no apparent reason during testing. You also don’t get blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert, and LaneWatch only covers the right-side blind spot.

Should I buy a 2020 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 refresh brought revised styling, additional sound insulation, and improved feature packaging.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, driving enjoyment, and owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the one to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still find value in nearby years, but the 2020’s softer pricing and refreshed equipment make it the cleaner target for most used shoppers.
