Used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback for Sale nearColumbus, OH

How much does the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback cost?

Prices have softened 5.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,256 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The overview and test-drive notes point to a hatchback that gives you Civic familiarity with added cargo practicality, a spacious cabin, and a manual transmission option. It is especially appealing if you want everyday versatility without giving up a compact-car footprint.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the stereo is lacking, and value for money is weak. Even so, if you prioritize practicality and a more engaging setup, the Civic Hatchback still makes a strong case.

Only 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the best examples may require quick action.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes this hatchback as a well-rounded compact car with useful packaging, while the test-drive notes emphasize a spacious cabin and a manual transmission option. That combination points to a car built to serve daily use well, especially if you want something practical rather than flashy.

Its performance notes also suggest a generally competent setup, with the CVT working well with the turbocharged engine and the manual gearbox described as especially satisfying. On the ownership side, the cost-effectiveness notes point to a model whose value equation is weakened by feature packaging, but not by obvious signs of poor day-to-day usability.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example that has been driven hard or neglected on features and equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or signs of repair. Focus on overall condition, because the best used examples here are likely to be the ones that have been maintained carefully and not just priced aggressively.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring each bring different equipment levels, and the base trims miss some of the nicer convenience and safety features that appear higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The LX uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower, while the EX-L and Sport Touring upgrade to a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 180 horsepower and stronger low-end torque.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.
• Infotainment: LX, Sport, and EX-L get a 7-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Sport Touring adds a 9-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport Touring with the CVT should get 33 mpg in combined driving, while the manual is rated at 31 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX-L, and Sport Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic Hatchback’s core practicality at the lowest price, but it also keeps you on the simpler side of the equipment list.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more appealing feature mix and gives you the choice of a manual transmission, which is a major draw if you want a more engaging drive.
• EX-L: This is the step-up choice if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and more comfort-oriented equipment, but you should weigh whether the added cost is worth it versus the Sport.
• Sport Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the best infotainment, the strongest tech package, and the most premium feel; it is the right pick if you want the most complete Civic Hatchback experience.

Honda Sensing is standard, but blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,256 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,758, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback's resale value?

The current average of $22,973 sits slightly below last year's $24,185.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved down from its prior peak, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current market implies you should expect value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation.

The good news is that the Civic Hatchback still has broad appeal thanks to its practicality and strong feature set. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones, especially if they have desirable equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback safe?

The 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Keeping Assist, low-speed following, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot warning is limited to the EX-L and Sport Touring, and rear cross-traffic warning is limited to the Sport Touring.

The safety package is strong overall, but the trim-level feature gaps matter if you want the most complete driver-assistance setup. If you want the fullest safety tech list, you should focus on the higher trims.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.01% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model is redesigned and brings back the Civic hatchback body style with added cargo practicality and a more modern cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Civic Hatchback with strong practicality, good safety, and a broad used-market selection, the 2022 is the right place to start. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years for a lower entry point, but the 2022 remains the more modern and well-rounded choice.
