Used 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 for Sale nearColumbus, OH

How much does the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 cost?

Prices have softened 5.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 567 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise the stunning design, amazing interior, and enjoyable driving experience. The upscale feel and advanced safety features also come through as recurring positives.

The main trade-offs are limited power and limited cargo space, and the back seat is cramped. That lines up with the car’s positioning in the overview: you get a stylish, premium-feeling compact car, but not the roomiest one.

With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful shopping room in the market.

Is the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they value its refined feel and advanced safety features. That kind of praise usually matters most when you want a used car you can count on day to day.

The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the car as a polished, premium-feeling compact with predictable power delivery and strong driving manners. Mazda’s maintenance-friendly ownership pitch is reinforced by the car’s straightforward, easy-to-use setup.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the car’s tighter space and modest power will still suit your needs after the honeymoon period.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Mazda MAZDA3?

At 71.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and interior condition. Because this model is valued for its premium feel, any signs of wear, repair work, or poor fit and finish matter more than they might on a more basic compact car.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base-trim-level vehicle misses the 18-inch alloy wheels that come standard on all but the base trim, while higher trims add a more upscale look and feel. The Premium Package also brings the better headlight rating, which is a meaningful upgrade if you drive at night often.
• Powertrain: All 2020 Mazda3s use a 2.5-liter SkyActiv four-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. The engine is predictable and efficient, but it does not deliver the immediate punch of a turbocharged setup.
• Safety package: Mazda’s driver-assistance suite includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and dynamic brake support. Lower trims get less favorable headlight performance than the Premium Package.
• Infotainment: The cabin centers on an 8.8-inch display, and Mazda uses a rotary controller instead of touchscreen input. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, Bluetooth is standard, and the system is quick and sharp-looking.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, and the test vehicle averaged 31 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 2 trim levels: sedan and hatchback.

Here's the short version:

• Sedan: This is the better fit if you want the more traditional body style and a cleaner upmarket look. It aligns well with the car’s premium design theme, but the rear styling is less naturally balanced than the hatchback’s.
• Hatchback: This is the best-value trim body style if you want the Mazda3’s most distinctive design and a more special overall presence. It also pairs especially well with the car’s upscale interior and available premium touches.

The Premium Package is the trim-level note to keep in mind: it adds the better headlights, while lower trims get an Acceptable headlight rating.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Mazda MAZDA3?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 567 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,074, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $17,835 sits slightly below last year's $18,878.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean a future seller has less pricing cushion than before. If you buy at the right number, you reduce the risk of overpaying into a cooling market.

The Mazda3’s strong styling, safety reputation, and owner satisfaction should still help support demand when it’s time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 is a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with top marks in all crash tests.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda’s safety suite includes forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and dynamic brake support. That gives you a broad set of standard driver aids for the class.

One caveat is that lower trims receive an Acceptable headlight rating, while the Premium Package headlights are rated Good. If safety is a top priority, that trim-level difference is worth paying attention to.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 combines premium styling, standard advanced safety features, and a polished cabin.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $16,754, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $17,835 average.
• It feels upscale and refined with a strong driving focus.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,503, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,835 average.
• Turbo power adds stronger performance and a more mature upscale character.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the right pick if you want the best balance of style, safety, and value in this generation. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 is the cheaper route to the same upscale personality, while the 2021 makes sense if you want the extra performance and can pay more for it.
