Is the 2020 GMC Yukon a good car?

The 2020 GMC Yukon is a balanced choice if you want a full-size SUV with a roomy, well-appointed cabin and a strong emphasis on space and comfort. It earns a user rating of 3.8/5, and its appeal is strongest if you value a commanding presence, premium amenities, and practical family-hauling capability.

The Yukon’s overview points to a spacious third row, plenty of cargo space, and a feature set that includes a standard eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, a standard Bose sound system, fold-flat second- and third-row seats, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also notes tradeoffs such as poor fuel economy, uncomfortable seats, and interior materials that feel cheap.

With 33.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2020 GMC Yukon reliable?

The 2020 GMC Yukon is presented as one of the better years to buy, helped by strong owner satisfaction and a feature set that makes it appealing as a practical family hauler. It also benefits from the later updates of this generation, which add useful convenience and comfort features.

At the same time, you should still plan for the usual long-term ownership risks that come with a large used SUV, especially if you expect higher running costs and want to avoid a neglected example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 GMC Yukon?

At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any Yukon you’re seriously considering and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your checklist, with extra attention on the cabin condition, seat comfort, and signs of wear that can matter more in a large family SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Yukon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,170 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,058, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Yukon's resale value?

The current average of $29,058 sits slightly below last year's $34,582.

That price movement suggests the Yukon has softened meaningfully, which can help you buy at a lower entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. If you keep the SUV clean, documented, and accident-free, you’ll be in a better position to protect value when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Yukon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.97% compared with last year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,209, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $29,058 average.
• The redesign brings more space, better ride quality, and a significant technology upgrade.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2020 if you want the stronger value proposition and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. Consider the 2021 if you’re willing to pay more for the redesign’s gains in space, ride quality, and technology; if price matters most, the 2020 is the smarter starting point.
