Is the 2020 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Chevrolet Trax earns a 4.25/5 user rating, which points to a generally favorable ownership experience for shoppers who want a compact, budget-friendly subcompact SUV. The overview frames it as a practical crossover with easy maneuverability, affordability, and a straightforward feature set, making it a fit if you want a smaller SUV without moving up in size. It also notes that the Trax’s appeal centers on everyday usefulness and value, though performance is only adequate and the model can depreciate faster than some rivals. 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 4.25/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the Trax as a straightforward, value-focused crossover with a practical layout and accessible ownership appeal. Its simplicity can be a plus for used buyers who want an uncomplicated small SUV, but the faster depreciation mentioned in the overview can matter if you plan to own it for a long time. For used shoppers, that means your biggest long-term risk is paying too much for a vehicle whose value may continue to soften faster than some alternatives.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Trax?

At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident history. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that could affect daily usability, since the Trax is best approached as a practical value buy rather than a performance-focused SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Trax?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re shopping carefully.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,664 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,354, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $12,354 sits slightly below last year's $13,623.

That price movement suggests the Trax has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future buyers but may limit upside for current owners. If you buy at the right price, you may reduce the risk of taking the steepest part of the value drop. For a future seller, that means condition and purchase price matter a lot more than hoping for strong appreciation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $13,193, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $12,354 average.
• It adds helpful tech features for easier everyday use.

The bottom line: If your priority is value, the 2020 is the stronger buy because it sits at a lower average price and has already softened meaningfully. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and want a slightly fresher take, the 2021 is the secondary path for buyers who care more about updated convenience than the lowest possible price.
