Used 2019 Toyota Avalon for Sale near Michigan

How much does the 2019 Toyota Avalon cost?

Prices have softened 6.09% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 291 listings available, which gives you a modest pool of options to compare.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Toyota Avalon earns a 4.93/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the smooth ride, comfort, and strong performance, and they also call out the stylish design and good technology. The overview frames it as a more modern, appealing full-size sedan with new looks, new tech, and more power, while still keeping an upscale, comfortable character.

The main trade-offs are the outdated technology and the lack of all-wheel drive. The expert review also notes that some omissions and oversights keep it from being a flawless choice, even though it is described as fun to drive and a strong value.

Good and great deals account for 35.4% of listings, so you have a meaningful share of market-priced opportunities to consider.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a car that drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they repeatedly highlight comfort, smoothness, and strong performance. The expert review also describes the Avalon as composed and comfortable, with power to spare, which supports the sense that it should be easy to count on day to day.

Toyota’s standard safety and comfort equipment also suggest a well-rounded ownership experience, and the value-focused positioning helps reinforce that it is built to deliver a lot for the money. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether the car’s age-related tech limitations and missing features fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because the market includes a sizable number of non-clean listings, condition matters a lot here, especially if you want to preserve the Avalon’s value and comfort advantages.

Pay close attention to whether the equipment level matches the trim you’re considering, since the Avalon’s appeal changes meaningfully as you move up the range. You should also verify that the infotainment and safety features work as expected, because those are central to the car’s everyday appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XLE starts with 17-inch alloy wheels, auto LEDs, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and ignition, heated power seats, and heated mirrors. The XSE adds 19-inch wheels, gloss black exterior trim, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, paddle shifters, aluminum trim, microsuede seat panels, and extra engine noise through the stereo. The Limited adds 18-inch wheels, a head-up display, leather and wood trim, heated rear seats and steering wheel, lighting upgrades, wireless phone charging, embedded navigation, and an upgraded JBL stereo. The Touring combines XSE and Limited features and adds adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ mode.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 301 hp and 267 lb-ft, paired with an 8-speed transmission and front-wheel drive. The base XLE is rated at 26 mpg combined, while the rest of the lineup gives up 1 mpg combined and 1 mpg highway.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Advanced Safety package adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and rear cross-traffic auto-braking.
• Infotainment: The system uses a 9-inch touchscreen with pinch-and-zoom navigation, Apple CarPlay, Alexa support, Toyota Remote Connect compatibility, and a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 devices. Android Auto is not included, and the system is built on a Linux-based architecture.
• Fuel efficiency: The base XLE is rated at 26 mpg combined, with 22 city and 32 highway. The rest of the lineup is rated 1 mpg lower combined and highway.

Which 2019 Toyota Avalon trim should I buy?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon is offered in 4 trim levels: XLE, XSE, Limited, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the best-value starting point if you want the Avalon’s core strengths without paying for extras. You still get the strong safety suite, the V6 powertrain, and the comfort-focused setup that defines the car.
• XSE: Choose this if you want a more expressive look and a slightly sportier feel, thanks to the 19-inch wheels, black trim, sunroof, rear spoiler, paddle shifters, and interior upgrades.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want the most luxury-oriented setup, with leather and wood trim, a head-up display, heated rear seats, wireless charging, navigation, and the upgraded JBL audio system.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich choice, combining XSE and Limited equipment and adding adaptive suspension, sport exhaust, active noise cancellation, and Sport+ mode.

The safety package is a major strength across the lineup, and the available Advanced Safety package adds even more protection if you want the most complete setup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Toyota Avalon?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 291 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,845, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Toyota Avalon's resale value?

The current average of $24,123 sits slightly below last year's $25,687.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current trend points to softer near-term resale conditions than a year ago, especially if your car lacks the cleaner history or stronger equipment mix that shoppers prefer.

The Avalon’s value story is still helped by its strong reputation for comfort, safety, and overall satisfaction. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Toyota Avalon safe?

The 2019 Toyota Avalon earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, auto high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. If you want the fullest safety setup, the Advanced Safety package adds front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and rear cross-traffic auto-braking.

That combination is a major reason the Avalon stands out in this area, and it helps explain why safety is one of its strongest selling points. The main caveat is that some of the most advanced features are tied to the optional package rather than being standard on every version.

Should I buy a 2019 Toyota Avalon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings new looks, more power, and added standard safety equipment.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,011, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $24,123 average.
• It marks the Avalon’s 25th birthday and rides on the revitalized TNGA platform.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong safety and satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for the next model year’s updated platform story and flagship feel, the 2020 is the alternative to compare.
