Is the 2019 Subaru WRX a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Subaru WRX earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a practical sport compact. The overview points to standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged Boxer engine, and an enthusiast-focused driving experience that still works for daily use. It also notes a fourth-generation update that brought more interior space, better fuel efficiency, and a stiffer chassis, while the trade-offs include outdated technology, a cramped back seat in older models, and poor fuel economy. With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2019 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the WRX’s core formula is durable in the sense that it stays true to its purpose: standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged engine, and a chassis tuned for driving engagement. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the concept and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru WRX?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior repair quality, and whether the car has been maintained consistently, since a performance-oriented used car can vary a lot from one example to the next.

What is the 2019 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $18,864 sits slightly below last year's $19,590.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot, especially for a car that attracts enthusiast buyers who pay attention to maintenance and history. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,834, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,864 average.
• It adds more modern tech and safety features while keeping the WRX’s driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2019 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with decent deal availability. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer example with a more up-to-date feature set, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
