Is the 2018 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Subaru WRX earns a 4.92/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, strong performance, excellent handling, and accessible power, and the model’s standard all-wheel drive and everyday usability help explain why it appeals to both commuters and spirited drivers. Is the 2018 Subaru WRX reliable?

The owner feedback also points to a car that delivers dependable enjoyment over time, with repeated praise for its strong performance and handling. That kind of consistent satisfaction matters if you want a used car you can count on for daily driving and weekend fun. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the driving experience and more about finding a well-kept example that has been maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or deferred maintenance. Focus closely on overall condition, since a sporty car like this can vary a lot from one example to the next depending on how it was driven and cared for. If a listing looks especially clean, make sure the paperwork and inspection support that impression.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best examples.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 658 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $17,355 sits slightly below last year's $18,204.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the broader market has softened.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.92/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.66% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2018 WRX is a strong choice if you want the classic WRX formula with standard all-wheel drive, strong owner approval, and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If you’re price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 stands out as a compelling balance of performance, usability, and current value.
