Is the 2019 Subaru Legacy reliable?

The overview points to a practical, safety-focused sedan with standard all-wheel drive and a well-rounded feature set, which supports the case for dependable everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the concept and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Legacy?

At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any candidate you’re serious about and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. Put inspection priority on body panels, alignment, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair work, since those can reveal how well a car was restored. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because that will matter more than mileage alone when you’re comparing used examples.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Legacy?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 578 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,871, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $15,871 sits slightly below last year's $16,623.

That price movement suggests the Legacy has softened enough to give you a better entry point now, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless market conditions improve. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later. The model’s practical appeal and safety focus should continue to support demand among used buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $17,265, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $15,871 average.
• It leans harder into practicality, efficiency, and standard all-wheel-drive confidence.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2019 if you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition and history. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer take with a stronger practicality-and-efficiency focus, the 2020 is the secondary path to consider.
