Is the 2019 Kia Soul a good car?

The 2019 Kia Soul is a solid fit if you want a small vehicle that feels more useful than its footprint suggests, and the 3.9/5 user rating points to generally favorable owner sentiment. Reviewers most often praise its roomy interior, smooth and quiet ride, and strong value for a compact car. That lines up well with the Soul’s use case as an affordable, distinctive hatchback that still gives you everyday practicality rather than a stripped-down economy-car experience. With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding one that fits your budget.

Is the 2019 Kia Soul reliable?

The 2019 Kia Soul stands out because it blends quirky styling with real everyday usefulness. The model’s appeal is rooted in its roomy cabin, good value, and easy-to-live-with layout, which are the kinds of traits that tend to matter most over time. Owners also describe it as a great value with decent performance, and some specifically point to its smooth, quiet ride as a reason they like living with it day to day. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk depends heavily on condition, since a neglected example can turn a value buy into an expensive one.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Kia Soul?

At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body panels, alignment, tire wear, and signs of uneven repair work, since those can reveal past collision issues. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, because a clean, well-kept Soul is much more likely to deliver the value you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,460 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,772, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $10,835 sits slightly below last year's $11,261.

That tells you the Soul has softened enough to help buyers today, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one and plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot because the market is already showing some downward pressure. A clean history and strong maintenance record should help you protect more of your value than a rougher example.

Should I buy a 2019 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.78% compared with last year.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $12,697, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $10,835 average.
• It adds a more refined, SUV-like feel with stronger cross-shopping appeal.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want the lower entry price and are willing to shop carefully for condition. If you can stretch your budget, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who want a newer-feeling Soul with broader appeal.
