overall

Summary
With 841 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,042.00, 28.8% of 2019 Nissan Kicks for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Nissan Kicks 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Nissan Kicks stands out as an affordable, fuel-efficient crossover that aims to deliver the basics of small-vehicle practicality without a high price tag. Its standard advanced safety features add to its appeal, and many drivers appreciate the touch screen interface and the sense of value it offers. For buyers who want a budget-friendly way into a crossover, those strengths make it easy to understand the Kicks’ appeal.
At the same time, the Kicks is held back by some clear compromises. Its performance is described as sluggish, all-wheel drive is not available, and the seats are uncomfortable. The overall impression is of a vehicle that makes sense on paper for shoppers seeking efficiency and affordability, but one that falls short of being truly versatile in everyday use.

I am familiar with the Kicks and bought another to add to my car fleet. I like the SR models and enjoy the Bose speakers, leather heated seats, and it's confortable to drive.

The touch screen and backup camera are really good. Also the gas mileage is the best Ive seen even among sedans. The price is universally better than other comparable crossovers. It drives and feels like a rogue but much closer to the ground. The pickup speed is the only complaint. And 4wd isnt available. And the interior lights seem cheap and ineffective.

I love the fuel efficiency and the comfortable amount of passenger space and storage capacity available. I love the simple to navigate touch screen interface. It’s responsive and lively enough to keep up on the highways with ease and amazing on long drives.

This SR model has every option possible. No GPS but the CarPlay and AndroidAuto make up for it. The only other small complaint is some of the door switches do not illuminate making them hard to locate at night. Well optioned and great safety features for this price point.

The trade-offs are just as clear: the expert review calls out sluggish performance and uncomfortable seats, and the overview notes that all-wheel drive is not available. That means you should think of it as a value-first commuter crossover rather than a do-everything family hauler.
For shoppers who want an affordable, efficient crossover with a simple learning curve and useful everyday features, the Kicks makes sense. With 24.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback repeatedly describes it as a budget-friendly crossover with solid features and great fuel efficiency, and several reviews emphasize the comfortable passenger space and useful tech. That kind of feedback suggests you can count on it for everyday commuting and routine use.
The expert review also supports that dependability-minded view by describing the Kicks as an efficient and economical vehicle with low running costs. It also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about living with its compromises, especially if you expect stronger performance or more versatility.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
At 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint match, and any signs of prior repair. Because the Kicks is often bought as a value play, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-kept example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.
Pay extra attention to the seats, since comfort is one of the model’s known weak spots. It’s also smart to verify that the safety and infotainment features work as expected, because those are major parts of the Kicks’ appeal.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The S trim keeps things basic with 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, manual folding side mirrors, black plastic bumpers, and cloth seats, while still giving you a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, Siri Eyes Free technology, and standard automatic emergency braking. The SV adds 17-inch alloys, body-color heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a half-digital instrument panel. The SR adds unique cosmetic touches, fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose premium audio, heated front seats, and Prima-Tex leatherette upholstery.
- Powertrain: You get a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable transmission. It is front-wheel drive only, and all-wheel drive is not available.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR trims.
- Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on the SV and SR, and the digital instrument panel on those trims can display fuel economy, tire pressure status, and driver-assistance information.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 31 mpg city, 36 highway, and 33 combined.
Which 2019 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?
The 2019 Nissan Kicks is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the value-focused entry point, and it gives you the essentials without much fluff. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, three USB ports, and standard automatic emergency braking, so it covers the basics well if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the features that make the Kicks feel more modern and easier to live with. You get 17-inch alloys, heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the half-digital instrument panel.
- SR: Choose this if you want the most equipment and the most upscale presentation. It adds fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose premium audio, heated front seats, and Prima-Tex leatherette upholstery.
The safety package starts with forward-collision warning and avoidance, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.
- Deal availability: 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 865 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,035.80, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Nissan Kicks's resale value?
The current average of $12,086 sits slightly below last year's $13,451.
That price movement suggests the Kicks has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you shop near the lower end of the current range, you reduce the chance of taking an outsized hit later.
Its value-oriented reputation also helps keep it relevant with budget-minded shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks safe?
It earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a Superior rating for crash-avoidance technology.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR trims.
The main safety caveat is that some of the most useful driver-assistance features are not standard on the base trim, so you’ll want to verify the equipment list carefully if you’re shopping an S model.
Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Kicks or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for its standard safety tech, strong fuel economy, and value-focused positioning.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $12,172, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $12,086 average.
- It emphasizes everyday usefulness over athleticism.
The bottom line: If you want the better-priced option with strong safety and efficiency, the 2019 is the smarter default. If you’re comparing listings strictly on price, the 2018 only makes sense when you find a cleaner example or a feature set that better fits your needs.
