overall

Summary
With 881 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,143, 28.7% of 2019 Nissan Kicks for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Nissan Kicks 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Nissan Kicks stands out as a budget-friendly small crossover that emphasizes efficiency and affordability. It offers standard advanced safety features, which adds to its appeal for shoppers looking for value in a low-cost vehicle. Drivers also tend to appreciate its fuel efficiency, touch screen interface, and comfortable passenger space.
At the same time, the Kicks has clear tradeoffs. Its performance is sluggish, all-wheel drive is not available, and the seats are described as uncomfortable. That mix makes it a practical choice for buyers who prioritize economy and basic features, but less compelling for anyone who wants stronger capability or a more polished driving experience.

I am familiar with the Kicks and bought another to add to my car fleet. I like the SR models and enjoy the Bose speakers, leather heated seats, and it's confortable to drive.

The touch screen and backup camera are really good. Also the gas mileage is the best Ive seen even among sedans. The price is universally better than other comparable crossovers. It drives and feels like a rogue but much closer to the ground. The pickup speed is the only complaint. And 4wd isnt available. And the interior lights seem cheap and ineffective.

I love the fuel efficiency and the comfortable amount of passenger space and storage capacity available. I love the simple to navigate touch screen interface. It’s responsive and lively enough to keep up on the highways with ease and amazing on long drives.

This SR model has every option possible. No GPS but the CarPlay and AndroidAuto make up for it. The only other small complaint is some of the door switches do not illuminate making them hard to locate at night. Well optioned and great safety features for this price point.

Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find reliable, dependable, and good for long-term use, with a reputation for being a car you can count on for everyday driving. The expert notes also reinforce its practical, economical character, and the cost-effectiveness section highlights its low price and good fuel economy.
The ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright durability and more about whether the car’s condition matches its value-focused mission.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter most in a budget crossover: seat wear, tire condition, and whether the safety and convenience features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The S trim is the most basic, with 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, manual folding side mirrors, black plastic bumpers, and cloth seats. The SV adds 17-inch alloys, body-color heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a half-digital instrument panel. The SR adds unique cosmetic touches, fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose premium audio, heated front seats, and Prima-Tex leatherette upholstery.
- Powertrain: You get a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive only. Efficiency is a strength, but the trade-off is limited passing and highway acceleration.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR.
- Infotainment: The standard 7-inch touchscreen is simple and easy to learn, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included on the SV and SR. The digital instrument panel also appears on those higher trims.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 31 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.
Which 2019 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?
The 2019 Nissan Kicks is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the value-first choice if you want the lowest entry point and can live with the most basic equipment. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, three USB ports, and standard automatic emergency braking, but you miss out on the nicer convenience and tech upgrades found higher up.
- SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds 17-inch alloys, heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the half-digital instrument panel, making it the sweet spot for everyday usability.
- SR: Choose this if you want the most features and the most upscale presentation. It adds the 360-degree camera, available navigation, Bose premium audio, heated front seats, and the most distinctive exterior treatment.
The safety package starts with standard forward-collision warning and avoidance, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent value.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 917 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.95% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 70.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,035, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Nissan Kicks's resale value?
The current average of $12,073 sits slightly below last year's $13,260.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Kicks easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the best protection is buying a clean, well-kept example at a strong price today.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks safe?
The 2019 Nissan Kicks earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a Superior rating for crash-avoidance technology.
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR, so the base trim is the one with the biggest safety-feature gap.
Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Kicks or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.95% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The 2019 stands out for standard advanced safety features and strong fuel economy.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $11,920, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $12,073 average.
- It suits commuters who want practical utility without extra complexity.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market mix of price, inventory, and feature content, the 2019 is the better starting point. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2018 is the more budget-friendly path, especially if you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-year appeal.
