overall

Summary
With 841 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,042.00, 28.8% of 2019 Nissan Kicks for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Nissan Kicks 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Nissan Kicks stands out as an affordable, fuel-efficient crossover that aims to deliver the basics of small-vehicle practicality without a high price tag. Its standard advanced safety features add to its appeal, and many drivers appreciate the touch screen interface and the sense of value it offers. For buyers who want a budget-friendly way into a crossover, those strengths make it easy to understand the Kicks’ appeal.
At the same time, the Kicks is held back by some clear compromises. Its performance is described as sluggish, all-wheel drive is not available, and the seats are uncomfortable. The overall impression is of a vehicle that makes sense on paper for shoppers seeking efficiency and affordability, but one that falls short of being truly versatile in everyday use.

I am familiar with the Kicks and bought another to add to my car fleet. I like the SR models and enjoy the Bose speakers, leather heated seats, and it's confortable to drive.

The touch screen and backup camera are really good. Also the gas mileage is the best Ive seen even among sedans. The price is universally better than other comparable crossovers. It drives and feels like a rogue but much closer to the ground. The pickup speed is the only complaint. And 4wd isnt available. And the interior lights seem cheap and ineffective.

I love the fuel efficiency and the comfortable amount of passenger space and storage capacity available. I love the simple to navigate touch screen interface. It’s responsive and lively enough to keep up on the highways with ease and amazing on long drives.

This SR model has every option possible. No GPS but the CarPlay and AndroidAuto make up for it. The only other small complaint is some of the door switches do not illuminate making them hard to locate at night. Well optioned and great safety features for this price point.

Drivers consistently praise its fuel efficiency, value, and standard advanced safety features. The overview also points to its budget-friendly crossover appeal and practical everyday use, especially if you want an affordable way into this segment.
The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out sluggish performance and uncomfortable seats, and the overview notes that all-wheel drive is not available. That means you’re getting a sensible commuter-focused crossover rather than a versatile all-weather one.
With its affordable pricing and practical feature set, it makes the most sense if you want basic small-crossover utility without stretching your budget. The market also shows 28.3% good or great deals, which gives you room to shop carefully.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to a reliable, dependable, and trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially when they value low running costs and strong fuel economy. The expert review also reinforces the Kicks as an economical, practical choice that should be easy to live with day to day.
You also get a helpful ownership perk: the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about whether the car’s modest performance and comfort compromises will still work for your needs over time.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
At 70% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to the seats, steering feel, brakes, and any signs of uneven wear or poor repair quality. Because this model is value-focused, condition matters a lot more than mileage alone.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The S trim is the most basic, with 16-inch steel wheels, manual folding mirrors, black plastic bumpers, cloth seats, a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, standard automatic emergency braking, and three USB ports. The SV adds 17-inch alloys, heated body-color mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a half-digital instrument panel. The SR adds unique exterior touches, fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose audio, heated front seats, and Prima-Tex leatherette upholstery.
- Powertrain: You get a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive only. The expert review says low-speed response is decent, but passing and highway acceleration are weak.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. SV and SR trims add blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts.
- Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and Siri Eyes Free. SV and SR trims add Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a half-digital instrument panel.
- Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 31 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined.
Which 2019 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?
The 2019 Nissan Kicks is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR, and SL.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the value-first choice if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the nicer convenience upgrades. You still get the 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, automatic emergency braking, and three USB ports, so it covers the basics well.
- SV: This is the best-value trim. It adds the features most shoppers will actually notice every day: 17-inch alloys, heated mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the half-digital instrument panel.
- SR: Choose this if you want the most upscale presentation and the most available tech. It adds the 360-degree camera, LED headlights, fog lights, and available navigation and Bose audio, but it’s more about comfort and appearance than core capability.
- SL: The source data names this trim, but it does not provide enough detail to separate it clearly from the others here.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on SV and SR, not on the base S.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 890 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 70.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,034.61, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Nissan Kicks's resale value?
The current average of $12,103 sits slightly below last year's $13,348.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the softer current pricing means your upside may be more limited unless you buy well and keep the car in excellent condition.
The good news is that the Kicks still has clear value appeal, and that tends to support steady shopper interest. A model with strong fuel economy, standard safety features, and broad everyday usefulness can remain easier to move than a less practical alternative.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks safe?
The Kicks earns an overall 2019 IIHS Top Safety Pick rating and Good scores in Driver Side Small Frontal Overlap, Moderate Front Overlap, Side, and Head Restraint crash tests.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on SV and SR trims.
The main caveat is that the strongest driver-assistance coverage is not universal across the lineup, so the base trim leaves you with less monitoring support than the higher trims.
Should I buy a 2019 Nissan Kicks or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 70% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.33% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The expert review highlights strong fuel economy, standard advanced safety features, and a value-focused setup.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $12,042, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $12,103 average.
- It is positioned as a practical commuter-friendly crossover with everyday usefulness.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, safety equipment, and feature availability, the 2019 is the better primary target. If your main goal is to spend as little as possible and you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-market leverage, the 2018 is the more price-sensitive alternative.
