Nissan, like many other automakers, has shifted to a vehicle lineup with a heavy focus on SUVs and utility vehicles. Its smallest, the Kicks, joined the line in 2016 as a subcompact crossover that slots in under the Rogue Sport and Rogue. The SV and SR trims get an 8-inch screen, and the top SR trim is available with a Bose eight-speaker stereo system. SiriusXM radio and over-the-air updates are also available. The 2022 Nissan Kicks hasn’t been crash tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but its predecessor posted strong scores. The 2021 Kicks picked up “Good” scores in all crash test categories and a Good+ score for LATCH system ease of use. The 2020 Nissan Kicks was the last model evaluated by the NHTSA, where it earned four stars overall. Nissan gives every Kicks a solid list of standard safety features that includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warnings, blind spot warnings, rear cross traffic alerts, a rear sonar system, and a rearview camera. Adaptive cruise control become standard starting with the midrange SV trim. The 2022 Nissan Kicks is on sale now with a starting price of $20,295.
