Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4/5 user-rated vehicle with an expert score of 6.7/10. The model scores 8/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its good value, solid features, great fuel efficiency, and ample safety features. The overview also points to an easygoing commuter role, with a focus on affordability and everyday practicality.

The trade-offs are clear: sluggish performance and uncomfortable seats are recurring drawbacks, and the overview notes that it gives up some refinement and versatility. That makes it a better fit if you want a budget-friendly crossover for commuting rather than a more engaging or spacious all-rounder.

Good and great deals account for 30.9% of listings, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Nissan Kicks reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free for everyday use, with many drivers emphasizing its value and fuel economy. The expert commentary also frames it as a practical commuter choice that is easy to live with.

The Kicks’ straightforward mechanical setup and efficiency-focused design support low-stress ownership, and its standard equipment helps it feel well covered for the money. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about whether the car’s condition matches its mileage and price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Nissan Kicks?

At 71.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment and safety systems are functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim is the most basic, with 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, manual folding side mirrors, black plastic bumpers, and cloth seats. The SV adds 17-inch alloys, body-color heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a half-digital instrument panel. The SR adds unique cosmetic touches, fog lights, full LED headlights, a 360-degree camera, and available navigation, Bose premium audio, heated front seats, and Prima-Tex leatherette upholstery.
• Powertrain: You get one engine, a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive only. It is efficient, but the output is modest and the lack of all-wheel drive limits versatility.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring, and Nissan’s Easy Fill Tire Alert system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added on the SV and SR.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and Siri Eyes Free. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto arrive on the SV and SR, and the digital instrument panel is also limited to those trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The Kicks is rated at 31 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, with 33 mpg combined.

Which 2019 Nissan Kicks trim should I buy?

The 2019 Nissan Kicks is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the nicer convenience and tech upgrades. You still get a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Siri Eyes Free, three USB ports, and standard automatic emergency braking.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest everyday upgrades: 17-inch alloys, heated side mirrors, push-button start, remote start, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the half-digital instrument panel.
• SL: This is the trim to consider if you want the most upscale equipment in the lineup, including the 360-degree camera and available navigation, Bose premium stereo, heated front seats, and leatherette upholstery.

The safety package is strongest once you move up to the SV or SR, where blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts are added.

What is the 2019 Nissan Kicks's resale value?

That softer pricing suggests the Kicks is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they price competitively. The year-round range also shows that values have stayed fairly tight, which can help support predictability when you eventually resell.

Because the model has broad appeal as an affordable commuter with strong fuel economy, it should continue to draw interest from budget-minded shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
