How much does the 2019 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 5.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,028 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Honda Civic earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and safety features, and they also call out its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. That lines up with the Civic’s role as a compact car that still feels like a more expensive car, while offering sedan, coupe, and hatchback body styles plus multiple engines and transmissions. If you want an everyday commuter with a more engaging driving feel than most small cars, this model year fits that brief well.

With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability, comfort, and a car you can count on, while the expert evaluation says the Civic delivers smoothness and refinement across its engines and transmissions. It also notes that the car is set up for sportier drivers without sacrificing the safe, comfortable, reliable character many shoppers want in a daily driver. Honda’s maintenance perk language is not included in the source material for this model year.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition can vary widely, so a careful inspection and service-history review matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

At 50.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple trims or body styles. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you’re considering. Because this model year offers a wide range of configurations, it’s worth confirming that the specific car has the features you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup includes a broad range of equipment, from a simpler, affordable setup to trims with a more upscale look, larger wheels, LED lighting, and a sportier appearance. Base-trim cars can miss some of the visual and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The base 2.0-liter engine makes 158 horsepower, while higher trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine with 174 horsepower, and the hatchback gets the turbo engine across the lineup. The turbo engine is the better pick if you want quicker response and stronger mid-range acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The Civic uses an Android-based infotainment system with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a standout, and LaneWatch is available on certain trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The source material does not provide MPG figures for this model year.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the Civic’s core value and everyday usability at the lowest price. It gives you the basics, but it’s the trim most likely to feel stripped compared with the others.
• Sport: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more distinctive look and some of the performance-oriented styling cues without jumping to the pricier turbo trims.
• EX: This is the sweet spot if you want the turbocharged engine, a moonroof, a power driver’s seat, and the touchscreen. It’s the trim CarGurus recommends, and it balances features and price well.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most upscale Civic experience, including LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier stereo.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,028 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,143, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $17,165 sits slightly below last year's $18,212.

That price movement suggests the Civic has softened enough to help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. The good news is that the Civic’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and wide shopper interest can help support demand over time. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The 2019 Honda Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories except the coupe, which earns four-star ratings for passenger-side frontal crash protection.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. The source material also notes that IIHS rated earlier Civic models with top Good results in all six crash tests and Superior crash-prevention performance, though the 2019 model itself was not rated.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 keeps the Civic’s familiar formula of style, value, and performance with only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,573, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,165 average.
• Minor design tweaks, more standard safety and convenience features, and more manual transmissions are the key updates.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it delivers the Civic’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly fresher version with extra standard features, the 2020 is the better alternative.
