CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Mustang
overall
Summary
With 276 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,355, 43.1% of 2019 Ford Mustang listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Mustang 4.86 / 5 stars.
83.3% of 2019 Ford Mustang listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Mustang stands out because it combines the Mustang’s long-running performance heritage with a broad range of body styles, engines, and trims that make it easy to tailor the car to different tastes. It remains a rear-wheel-drive coupe or convertible, and that classic formula is a big part of its appeal. Owners also tend to praise its power, style, and comfortable ride, which helps explain why it continues to feel like a special car rather than just a practical one.
What makes this generation especially distinctive is how much performance it offers. The 2019 Ford Mustang is available with Ford’s EcoBoost turbocharged 2.3-liter inline four-cylinder engine, while upper trims can be had with 5.0-liter V8 engines producing 480 hp or 500 hp, depending on trim. A 10-speed automatic is the most common transmission, though some trims are available with six-speed manuals. That mix gives shoppers a wide spread of personalities, from more accessible everyday performance to serious V8 muscle.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The 2019 Ford Mustang has reported issues including powertrain vibrations, inconsistent interior build quality, problems with the limited-slip differential, and electronic stability control concerns. It also requires premium fuel with the EcoBoost engine, and the back seat is limited in space. Even so, for buyers who want an iconic sports car with strong performance and plenty of choice, the 2019 Ford Mustang remains an appealing option.

Reviewed a 2019 Ford Mustang on Jan 20, 2021
The ford mustang has been and will always be the go-to American muscle car. However, the convertible EcoBoost diverges from this trend and created its own market of enthusiasts. The premium package provides numerous safety packages creating a more luxurious feel to the interior while maintaining a sporty exterior. The 2019 EcoBoost convertible is a car that can give you a fun Sunday drive but also take you to work the next day without any hassle. The mpg is by far one of the most unusual features provided specifically from the EcoBoost series and somehow still creates a feeling of high torque and good horsepower through the turbo in the car. Altogether, the mustang EcoBoost convertible is a fantastic starter car for new mustang enthusiasts who want a sports car for a daily driver. I highly recommend this vehicle.

How much does the 2019 Ford Mustang cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $26,290 |
| Year-Round Low | $24,381 |
| Year-Round High | $27,259 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $27,190 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.31% |
Prices have softened 3.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,059 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2019 Ford Mustang a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Ford Mustang earns a 4.86/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, style, and comfortable ride, and many also highlight how fun it is to drive. That fits well if you want a rear-wheel-drive coupe or convertible with a classic performance feel rather than a purely practical commuter. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding attractive pricing.
Is the 2019 Ford Mustang reliable?
Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter to enthusiasts: strong performance, enjoyable driving dynamics, and a sense that it holds up well as a special-occasion daily driver. The recurring praise for power and driving enjoyment suggests many owners feel confident living with it over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure any example you consider has been maintained carefully and checked for wear-related issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Mustang?
At 64.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident or damage records. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to the powertrain, differential, and electronic systems. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since a sports car like this can vary a lot from one example to the next.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Mustang?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.
- Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,059 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.31% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $24,381, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Mustang's resale value?
The current average of $26,290 sits slightly below last year's $27,190.
That price movement suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. Even so, the Mustang’s strong enthusiast appeal and broad shopper interest can help support demand over time. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, you improve your odds of holding value better than a less desirable sports coupe.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.31% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $22,236, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $26,290 average.
- It feels more sophisticated while keeping the Mustang’s performance focus.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $25,955, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $26,290 average.
- It blends heritage with modern appeal and strong value for money.
The bottom line: The 2019 is the best fit if you want a well-liked Mustang with strong owner satisfaction and a healthy mix of listings to shop. If price is your top priority, the 2018 is the better value play, while the 2020 is the sensible alternative if you want a slightly newer model at a similar price point.
