CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 1,836 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,692, 29.4% of 2019 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars.
63.8% of 2019 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a generous feature set. Ford had already given the car significant updates by 2019, and that matters because this version could be equipped with a wide variety of active safety features, including lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. It also benefits from the Fusion’s roomy packaging, with 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a 16 cubic-foot trunk, making it a practical choice for buyers who want everyday usability without giving up a more polished look.
What makes the 2019 Ford Fusion especially appealing is how broad its lineup is. The available engines range from the 175-horsepower 2.5-liter Duratec to turbocharged options, and the hybrid models use a 2.0-liter Duratec four with an electric motor for up to 188 hp. Ford also added SYNC 3 in 2017, bringing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the best-equipped versions are the 2019 and 2020 models, which have some of the driver aids standard. On the road, the Fusion is described as sure-footed and capable-handling, and the gas-only 1.5-liter models return the best economy among the gas engines, up to 27 mpg combined.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The car is not as deluxe as its price tag suggests, and non-hybrid versions lag rivals in MPG. Still, for shoppers who want a comfortable, good-looking sedan with useful technology and a reputation for solid driving dynamics, the 2019 Ford Fusion remains an attractive used-car pick.

2019 Fusion replaced a 2006 Fusion for my daughter. It was a great value for her budget. It has all the safety features like blind spot monitoring, back up camera and warning sensors. We compared it to a Malibu, but the Fusion was a better price with lower miles.

Prices have softened 7.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,849 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.
If you find a listing below $12,718.22, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion a good car?
Yes — the 4.71/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, stylish looks, and the range of features for the price, and many also like the powerful performance in higher trims. That lines up well with the overview: you get a roomy midsize sedan with useful technology, available all-wheel drive, and a practical cabin, so it fits well if you want a well-rounded daily driver with more polish than the price suggests. With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car people feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to comfort and overall dependability. That said, some drivers mention design flaws and interior cosmetic issues, so a careful inspection still matters on used examples. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a car with hidden wear or neglected maintenance rather than a model with weak owner approval.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Fusion?
At 63.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on the body, interior condition, and any signs of cosmetic wear or repair quality. Because some owners mention interior cosmetic issues, you should focus on how well the car has been maintained and whether everything works as expected.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Ford Fusion?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on standout listings.
- Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,849 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.80% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,718.22, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $12,715 sits slightly below last year's $13,791.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market continues to cool. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot, because buyers will likely compare your car against a fairly large pool of similar listings. Strong feature content and broad appeal can help support demand, but the current trend suggests you should not expect rapid appreciation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.80% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $11,739, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $12,715 average.
- It offers an unusually broad lineup with many body and powertrain choices.
The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced buy, the 2019 is the stronger pick because it combines solid owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and good deal availability. If your main goal is to spend less, the 2018 is the better value path, especially if you find one in strong condition and the lower price matters more than the newer-year advantages.
