CarGurus Analysis: 2019 Ford Fusion

Summary
With 1,836 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,692, 29.4% of 2019 Ford Fusions for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 Ford Fusion 4.71 / 5 stars.
63.8% of 2019 Fusion models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2019 Ford Fusion stands out as a midsize sedan that blends sharp styling, strong road manners, and a generous feature set. Ford had already given the car significant updates by 2019, and that matters because this version could be equipped with a wide variety of active safety features, including lane-keeping assist and automatic emergency braking. It also benefits from the Fusion’s roomy packaging, with 38.3 inches of rear legroom and a 16 cubic-foot trunk, making it a practical choice for buyers who want everyday usability without giving up a more polished look.
What makes the 2019 Ford Fusion especially appealing is how broad its lineup is. The available engines range from the 175-horsepower 2.5-liter Duratec to turbocharged options, and the hybrid models use a 2.0-liter Duratec four with an electric motor for up to 188 hp. Ford also added SYNC 3 in 2017, bringing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the best-equipped versions are the 2019 and 2020 models, which have some of the driver aids standard. On the road, the Fusion is described as sure-footed and capable-handling, and the gas-only 1.5-liter models return the best economy among the gas engines, up to 27 mpg combined.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The car is not as deluxe as its price tag suggests, and non-hybrid versions lag rivals in MPG. Still, for shoppers who want a comfortable, good-looking sedan with useful technology and a reputation for solid driving dynamics, the 2019 Ford Fusion remains an attractive used-car pick.

2019 Fusion replaced a 2006 Fusion for my daughter. It was a great value for her budget. It has all the safety features like blind spot monitoring, back up camera and warning sensors. We compared it to a Malibu, but the Fusion was a better price with lower miles.

Is the 2019 Ford Fusion a good car?
Yes — the 4.71/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfort, stylish looks, and the range of features for the price, and many also like the powerful performance in higher trims. For you, that means the 2019 Fusion makes sense if you want a midsize sedan with everyday usability, a polished look, and a broad feature set. With 29.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2019 Ford Fusion reliable?
Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Drivers describe it as comfortable and feature-rich, and the feedback also points to a car that many owners feel good about living with over time. The recurring praise for its dependable feel and overall satisfaction suggests you can approach used examples with confidence, provided the specific car has been maintained well. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how carefully a given example was cared for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Ford Fusion?
At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection on any car that looks especially appealing on price. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the interior and electronics match the seller’s description. If a listing has a clean history and checks out mechanically, it deserves much closer attention than one with vague records or visible wear.

If you find a listing below $12,636, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Ford Fusion's resale value?
The current average of $12,636 sits slightly below last year's $13,797.
That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss when it comes time to sell. Strong demand for well-kept examples can also help support pricing, especially when the car presents cleanly and has a good ownership history.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.42% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $11,784, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $12,636 average.
- It offers unusually broad lineup flexibility.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and inventory, the 2019 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2018 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the Fusion’s core appeal.
